I'm a recreational player. I played table tennis when I was younger (20 years ago) and  now started to play in a club for fun about three times a week with a caoch. I also have a table tennis in my house where I play with my son.

I am left handed, I have quite a big hand, and I like to play both FH and BH spin, loops and chops. I also block very well.  To sum it up all around to offensive play.

I am playing for a few months now. I want to upgrade from my pre assembled racket to one that wiil allow me to improve my game and my technique (which are far from perfect). I am looking for more control, precision and spin in my game. Speed is less important.

I do not intend to speed glue.

I love the game and I am willing to invest in a setup that will bring the smile to my face.

I would really appreciate your advice/opinion on blade and rubbers.

advice on a better setup for me. I am willing to invest in a new blade and rubbers but I prefer one that will allow me to evolve and not one that I will have to change in a year or so.

Well since you are new to the forum, here is a setup that I liked as a beginner-novice. Most people think this works well, and it is good for allround offensive play, which seemed to be your style based on the way you described it.

Blade: Butterfly Primorac OFF-

Forehand Rubber: Red Butterfly Sriver 2.1mm

Backhand Rubber: Black Butterfly Sriver 2.1mm

Thanks for the advice.

Is there a preference for the type of Sriver considering I do not speed glue?

Hi!

Just wanted to mention the Tibhar Samsonov Alpha which is a off blade with amazing control that works for almost anything. But even better it has a long handle, as you mentioned having big hands..

For the rubber something with incorporated speed-glue effect if that's what you want: Tibhar nimbus is said to be good, or the donic desto series..

If you want a classical rubber: Sriver L as mentioned or mark V or something like that..

A samsonov alpha with 2x2.1 mm nimbus would be excellent I think..

Blade: Butterfly M. Maze Off ST

Rubbers: Bluefire M2 2.0

Well since you do not speedglue or intend on it, you'd be best off with normal Sriver.

That primorac has a great feeling. Highly recommend, A++

as someone who used Sriver L when I was getting back into the game, I found it far too bouncy and fast (read: unpredictable) while I was learning technique. It's very demanding to play with and you don't get much dwell time.

If you must use sriver - to make it a bit easier to control, I'd recommend the 1.9mm sponge - you'll make far fewer unforced errors with it.

But honestly, I think that Friendship RITC FX-EL would be a much easier rubber to develop with. Without glue, it's relatively slow - it's light, produces plenty of spin, and allows for EXACT placement on shots. It pushes, loops and hits decently to boot.

BETTER OFF WITH SRIVER FX IF YOU DON'T SPEED GLUE. SRIVER GIVES NO FEEL WHEN NOT SPEED GLUED.

They say that Hurricane 3 is really good to learn to loop with! But I would say you should try... Butterfly Tackiness Drive

You cant go wrong with H3 or Skyline 2 with a great blade. Find a 39 deg H3 or TG2, 2.15 - 2.2mm thick.

korbel will do. If you meant you have BIG hands, you can try Andro Supercore Kinetic All+ AN or ST.(dont go for FL).  Srivers will be fine with those blades. Dont think about speedglueing.

I really think you would be happy with the Donic Waldner Diablo, ST combined with Hammond X front and back(1.9 - http://www.iruiru.com/e/acn/). The 2 plies of glass fibre combined with the wood layers of the Waldner Diablo make it a very forgiving blade with good power.

I use the Super Core Kinetic ALL+ FL, and I have small hands so definitely dont try it. Go with Straight I would recommend.
