I know they check for "ITTF" on the rubbers and rubber are not too big or too small. Anything else?

Just want to know if they ever check rubber+sponge thickness? I guess not!!

I'm planning to make an illegal rubber, 1.6 mm top sheet + 2.5 or thinker sponge. I have PALIO CJ8000 - 1.6 mm but looking for 2.5 mm up sponge. I have only 2.4 mm sponge.

"A side of the blade used for striking the ball shall be covered with either ordinary pimpled rubber, with pimples outwards having a total thickness including adhesive of not more than 2mm, or sandwich rubber, with pimples inwards or outwards, having a total thickness including adhesive of not more than 4mm."

Cole....you got any 2.6 or up?

Well its quite obvious when u see this huge rubber sticking off your blade isnt it ? NOt only that but the refs weigh your bat in their hands.

Well in the UK at any 4* or high level competitions, the refs check for chips around the edges of your rubbers, how much is overhanging off the edge of the blade (if you glue), check for any bubbles or uneveness...

It's not that obvious!! like 0.2 - 0.3 mm thicker.....hard to tell.

"the refs weigh your bat in their hands." Is there a weight requirement? or you mean thicker rubber = more weight.....in that case, it's so difficult to tell.
