What does WD-40 do for rubbers? Remove rust?

I read some posts about this which said that WD40 revives (up to some extent) some old rubber, but it was about old and dead rubber only.

Among its other uses WD40 is a cleaner. It cleans the rubber and brings it back surface back to a like new state. Try it on an old rubber first and see if you like the results.
