    Posted: 02/23/2007 at 9:32pm

I will attempt to give you some info on my playing style

- I am looking for a setup unfortunately around, preferably under, 50 US$.

I play agressive offense with loops and drives on both bh and forehand during my service.

I chop mostly while recieving serves, and I tend to get pushed off the table after returning peoples serves, and I become very defensive until they make a mistake, then I take the offense again. Whilst playing defence, I use a variation of BH and FH chops and side spins, and when i get pushed off the table I use lobs.

The most important thing I'm looking for is something that I can achieve good loops with some speed without completely sacraficing my defense.

ANY advice is appreciated, if you need any more info I'd be glad to share. BTW I've only played serious for about 7 months, which is why 50$ is my budget, thanks.

perfect price range, but I'm still not sure what it all means.. This is my first purchased bat, so I still need help choosing one based on my style of play. For a reference, I JUST bought an LKT instinct, and I'm very dissapointed in it.(it was a gift, so I didn't pick it out) It plays way too slow, and seems much more defensive than I would like, but I don't even really know why? Pips in, Pips out, I really don't know the effects of it... I know the blade bought for me is pips in on both sides.

Any suggestions?

You probably got the 5 ply instinct; this one is much slower than the 7 ply instinct.  I would ask cole which rubbers to pair up with the 7 ply instinct for a nice, controlled offensive setup that loops well.

I did get the 5ply, but does cole have the 7ply instinct? Or am I going to just have to buy the blade elsewhere and get the rubbers from cole?

Yes just go to colestt.com.  The combo with the 7ply and two rubbers is under $40.

I sell the 7ply combo for $35.  I have lots of other options that are faster than instinct 5ply.  Then again, we don't know his rubber choice?  Maybe that has something to do with it.  Maybe he got like lkt xt or something on both sides.  It could be he just needs to try some faster rubber on his 5ply.

My bat came premade, so I'm not sure of the rubbers, there appears to be a sponge behind the rubber, I'm not sure if thats normal. It has a really soft feel, and pips are in on both sides.

P i n g,
Just talk with Cole a little bit.  He always has some nice suggestions.  He set me up with Saviga on the FH, and Globe 999t on bh.  The Globe 999t was love at first strike.  At first I was underwhelmed with the Saviga, but I gotta say that rubber just kept getting better and better, so Cole kinda suggesting the Saviga really turned out to be a great piece of advice.  Inspirit is basically the same thing to Saviga now that the Inspirit uses the Saviga sponge.  I'm playing better than I ever have.  Sometimes you gotta give those Chinese rubbers a few goes before they start reaching their potential.

Yeah, being such a beginner in choosing blades and rubbers, I'm going to invest my trust in Cole :)

Try the  729 Bomb off blade $18 .You can get any of thr 729 series rubbers for $14. I would recommend  the Jap Judo 2.2. or de the FX-EL 2.2 but they need some serious glue .All in you are worth $46 .

I doubt he'll want to use speed glue, as he's clearly on a budget.
But ping, definitely check what rubbers are on the racket, and measure the thickness of the sponge. If you're using 1.5mm sponge with tacky rubber I can see why it would be lacking power for sure.
