Whenever I play somebody who lobs, after a few smashes im tempted to try a ma lin drop shot but usually I hit a short high ball or the ball bounces past my paddle.  Any tips?

drop the ball on the rise, as the topspun ball is about to bounce on the table, intercept it on the fh bh whatever, and block it high, ie, above the ball, it'll wont go high i think.

and WATCH the ball, i cant stress that enuf, if u dont, the spin will be like wtf?

Easiest drop shot on a lob is, when it bounces near the net. Just touch it over with a closed racket with very little pressure holding the racquet.
