How do sponges and topsheets affect spin?

	Im new to table tennis and was wondering how do sponges and topsheets effect spin seperately? Thanks in advance.

	I'm sure there are more qualified people to answer this question than I am. However I'll take a stab at it ! Sponges come in various sizes, ranging from 1.0-2.2mm the more common sizes 1.8mm, 2.0mm, 2.2mm(Max). So far from what I learned is the more sponge you have, the more the ball will have a chance to "sink" into the sponge and build up friction to produce more spin. You tend to see loopers using 2.0mm-2.2mm sponge. If you don't have a developed loop then I would recommend 1.5mm-1.8mm sponge 2.0 at the max. Hope this helps you out!
