how do you clean your H3?

some people say it looses its tackiness if you use the foam cleaner...

i'm just cleaning it with water, but any better ways to clean it?

I think there is a guide book on maintenance of H3 ;)

but that would be the hummer... i am not sure if they have one for the rubber in specific ;)

In general all tacky rubber's a difficult to clean. if you use water or soap.. still it affects the surface tension and hence tackiness.

What works for me is cleaning it with water or shaving foam... followed by spinmaxing it time to time. if you don't want to spend money on red spinmax... you can by n-heptane (bestine) from michaels. But always use it in concentric circles on the topsheet.

I use a foam cleaner and sponge. I don't see any major change in tackiness for 5 months (playing for 3 hrs, 3-4 times a week). I believe another very important task is to cover with a CLEAN protective sheet after you play. I clean my protective sheet with water before I apply on H3.

NEVER, use water it damages the rubber faster that way. especially H3s
the best way is to put moisture from ur mouth or use any type of rubber foam cleaners.

I use water if there is dust particles on the rubber. I try to clean with sweat between the points.

Erika,

as per experts here... spinmax doesn't damage rubbers...

i am using it for about a month... so far it didn't damage anything butmy pocket.

n-heptane is the primary constituent of spinmax (90%)... availabl at art stores assolvent for rubber cement. bestine is trade name.

people tell me a little rubber cement (5%) dissolved in bestine works even better.. i have never tried though.

don't use sweat. sweat is not what u should be using. I find that even using your hands aren't a good idea during a game (the whole using ur mouth to breathe on it and using ur hands after). Oil from your hands would stay on the rubber. <==== bad thing

the rashawa foam cleaner works best i aply my rubbers with it to.

its really cool i should post of video of it. after my glue drys on the h3 i line up where it is suposed to be rolled on and i put some of the cleaner on the bottom and then i just slide the cylinder up the sponge and it comes out so smoothe and my rubber is clean.

I don't think it is the best idea asking this question to the pros or ex-pros, who have the least need to think about the life of their rubber.
The thing you should do is avoiding the oxidation of the rubber, which is usually stimulated by the exposure of the rubber surface to air & moisture.
Just use the proper cleaner and dry it quickly and completely and put a protective sheet on.

There is no point sticking to the conventional method of washing with water, when the "cleaning stuff" are on the market.

I use water (moist on a cleaner sponge) most of the time, then a cleaner like foam or spinmax once every few weeks... spinmax can make it even more tacky, but it should not be overused...

To keep the tackiness I feel it't just as important to put the plastic film on really well...

dont use sweat. sweat contains oils. If you are in between points then breath on it to make it moist and wipe with hand to, like how the pros do it.

just use water (cool water). not hot water.

I use rubbing alcohol, clears that stuff right up and dries immediately. As to what it does to the rubber. I don't know down to the minuscule effect but it remains tacky as if it were still new for a long time.

I used H3 for a long time per my Chinese coach's recommendation... and I used both cleaning solution and water... I had much better result with water...just use a soft sponge and water... you should not have to through your money to sink...
