I know this question sounds silly but i have ripped 3 rubbers after using tear mender. I use to use the stuff from paddle palace never ripped a rubber using that. I put on a thin layer on the rubber then on the blade and then put them tkgether. Am i doing something wrong? Should i just put a layer on the blade and smack that rubber on? I have been careful when ripping off the rubbers but they still rip. Btw 2 were h3 prov 1 is t05. So been pretty costly..

I put two on rubber. Two on blade. I have had very small sponge bits off of my ovp . My s2p was nearly flawless. Oivp was near about flawless as well.
I let the two dry before slapping them on. Maybe youre wet gluing, leading to unfortunate events. |

I've probably glued a 100 sheets of different types using TM without any issues. 3 thin layers on rubber, 3 thin on blade. No damage whatsoever. Could not use anything else. Easiest to remove. |

Sorry to revive this old thread, but i seem to have issues with the rubber coming off of the blade in 2 weeks (playing 3 times a week), the bond seems to be weak.
I put one thick layer on the blade, then 1 thick layer on the rubber, then wait 10 mins and put them together. I don't put any weight on them or anything like that after. What am i doing wrong? Someone on the OOAKForum mentioned putting TM only on the blade and then slapping the rubber on it while its still wet, i will give it a try tonight

Three layers of TM on sponge is the way to go. If you boost, you can apply after boosted. You can either put 1 or 2 layers of glue on the blade.

You know if you'd use Elmer's Rubber Cement you'd never tear rubbers.

That's a lot of layers of glue, so when you say 3 layers, do you mean, put 1 layer, then wait till its completely dried, then put another and wait some more till second layer dries off and then another layer? How long would this take, like an hour to glue one side?

If you boost I wouldn't recommend tear mender, it's not especially strong.

I have used tm to glue many sheets of T80 and esn rubbers. Never had a tear.
One thin coat on rubber and blade. Let it dry. Attach, done. If you continue to have problems with your tm technique, just switch to rubber cement. Nobody cares if you use rc. |

I personally used 3 layers, applying on top of each other when each layer dried. When removing the glue for re-tuning, I rubbed the edge and then try to pull it vertically away from the sponge. The glue membrane will typically pull gradually better than if I rolled it over the sponge. I think it is highly personal in choice. I stick with TM as cheap replacement of WBG for porous sponge and RC for VOC glue on high density or old Chinese sponge. If you do 1 layer only, you probably need to roll the glue over gently when removing it. If you don't tune, then I don't see the reason for frequent removal.

my experience is the same-no issues, v easy to use, good strong (but not too strong) bond. 1 layer (applied with a sponge) on blade and the sponge of the rubber. let them dry...put together..easy....also v easy to remove. |
