I think what is more interesing about Persson is that he managed to have a normal family (wife and 3 kids) on top of superb career. In contrast, Waldner is well known for being very introvertive and I am not sure if he ever had girlfriends during his most successful years... although I am sure he had them after...

Persson is a great sportsman and one of the best table tennis players in Sweden ever but he will always be in the shadow of Waldner.

Persson on the other hand has a family like you say and Waldner still is a bachelor.

Persson has a family and a great career but not as great as Waldner. I would not consider to be introvertive.. even though he is not the big social guy.

I agree that Jan-Owe achievements are much better but not because Jorgen spent less time training or was less into it... simply because Jan-Owe was more talented. And on top of that, Jan-Owe was well known for being rather shy and not involved in anything BUT table tennis for at least 10-15 years straight while Jorgen simply has a different sort of personality. Frankly, if I had a choice of how I wanted to be reincarnated - as Waldner or as Persson - I would have taken Jorgen immediately. Sorry but that's just who I am...

But if you were to reincarnated as only a table tennis player, who would you choose?

i dont think persson is gonna reach a ittf pro tour final like juanito did
waldner is not so withdrawn as you think,

if i would have that amount of $ i would have swept stockholm  and if juanito plays the chinese league would win more matches than persson, a defeat in juanito career is not gonna put him behind persson,

i bet you  love anything that comes from swden

ok...persson may not reach an ittf final, but can u compare that to the olympic run of him vs juanito?

olympics is a far more important tournament.

if juanito would have made to the semi you would say the opposite,i dont think persson  could have beat jang, ryu won in 2004 and where is he now?

I don't think Persson is gonna reach a pro tour final, thats correct, I didn't tnink he would do as good as he did in the olympics either.

Regarding Waldner I never said that he is withdrawn that was someone else.

Lots of ifs..

Perssons merits our so much bigger then Juanitos that it would be unfair just to compare them with each other.

I don't love everything that comes from Sweden but I thing thar Sweden have produced very many good table tennis players for being such a small country.

world champ, countless team and single titles,

talking about recent tournaments, every coach will put his money to juanito that he will won more matches to top players

besides OG what persson has won recently , do you remember being owned in 2008 team events?

Persson won against schlager and Chen last friday in the european Champions leauge.

But I agree that Persson did'nt have a great year 2008 until 2008 but thats because he hasn't have a medal from the olympics and he knew that this would be his last chance. So he topped his form for this tornament and played really well and some luck not playing against someone like Ryu Seung Min how had beaten Persson easaly just like he did in the team event.

It seems silly to discuss whos the better player by merit between Persson and Juanito because Juanito hasn't won anything has he? Did he win anything in china before becoming a spaniard?

Whos the better player right know is debatable and I know that we have different opinions in this matter but thats fine by me.

Maybe time to make up your mind? Do you want to talk about the present or the past? :)

Juanito has been doing well and better then Persson the last couple of years BUT..

Right now Persson is better and he has more merits in the past.

My opinion..

yeah regarding 2007-2008 events
persson made it into the semis of the korean open, he beat players like joo se hyuk
again to reiterate, he beat chen and schlager in the champions league, ending it with a bh swat kill!
semis of the olympics
2008 team, persson vs chinese Taipei, did he not beat chiang peng lung and chuan?

he may not make a final, but i think hes consistent in his performance given his age.

In the team event agianst Chinese taipei he won against Chiang Peng Lung and CHANG Yen-Shu he didn't play Chuan. Just to be correct.

But otherwise your coorect and I get your point and if its not clear I agree on what a great form he is in, to bad that he wont be playing in the ec.
