Hey guys I searched a lot for an alternative to the Oc on the forums and found quite a lot of information, but not enough... I'd like to have a blade with 5-ply all wood and which is faster than Oc, without losing too much control, so, share your knowledge guys Wink

Thanks

Stiga also has an updated version of OC very recently released that is, they claim, faster due to composites in the glue between plies.  Not sure *how much* truth there is to this, but its hard to imagine this blade being worse and ideally the composites in the glue would give some of the pop they usually provide without the loss in feeling compared to classic wood blades.

Darker speed-grip legato 2a is a p500 / OC type blade but seemed faster when I tried it - best with medium sponge and up in my experience anyway.

Acoustic, YEO, HKing, HWL and Korbel are faster 5 ply blades. Can't exact faster alternatives though. A bit different feel, flex and hardness.

I'd have to say that PKorbel, BT555, Runlox 5, P500, BT550, OC/OC CR n OSE r all up there. YEO imho is kinda a lil too hard but for smashing, blocking n hitting it's nice but a tad too harsh/fast 4 my taste. HKing n HWL, I dunno 2 much abt them.

Avalox p500: Softer feel, faster
HKing: Faster, probably harder feel.

Stiga Offensive Wood NCT.  A faster than regular OC but a little slower than a clipper.   This blade has the same plys but is assembled with a differnt type of glue with carbon nanotubes and the face of the blade looks laquered.

Is it soft or hard?
How do you compare it to Clipper CR, for example?

Don't know much about offensive classic NCT, what's the big deal with it, is the blade a 5-ply all-wood like OC?

What about the BTY Primorac? Could that be another alternative?

I have not used this blade but have only read about its stats.  I would imagine that is would be a little harder, faster and would have more feel then a regular OC.

Thanks, Jeff. I have just order one.  I tended to take Clipper Cr as a safe choice however the ideal weight and thickness of Offensive NCT drive me to take risk then.
I really want to quit EJ. Why the hell I cant? Sbd helps me.

I received my Offensive Wood NCT this morning. I've just played with it for about 2 hours. To some my thoughts maybe useful so I should note something here.

Stiffness: Not as stiff as I was afraid. I think this OW is more flexible than my Korbel. Carbon Nanotube whatsoever is nothing but a light coat which results no big impact. The Clipper Wood provides softer touch but not as flexible as this NCT.

Speed: Not as fast as my Korbel, and of course much slower than Clipper Wood.

Control: As I noticed, the definition of control varies among people. I myself want to put topspin on every ball and this OW facilitates my work better over Korbel or Clipper.

Blade infor:
Offensive NCT: 82g, 5.8mm as claimed by the seller.
Korbel: Heavy like hell, I guess it is about 90g+, 6.0mm.
Clipper: Also a heavy one, about 90g+, 7.0mm.

My rubbers are Globe999 Blue Sponge for FH and Magna for BH. Both are max.

I will bring this baby to my bed tonight.

So does the OW NCT feel faster or the same as the OC?  If you have played with a Avalox P500 could you compare the OC and OW NCT to it?

Jeff, I've never played with OC or P500 but Allround CR and Energy Wood.
OC NCT is definitely faster than Allround CR.
I gave my EW for a friend a long time ago so I cant compare with it. However from my memory I think they are almost the same in speed.
