I bought the rubber from Cole. Topsheet and sponge are glue together nicely. The topsheet is lightly tacky, grippy and thin. Here's the set up:
Stiga Clipper CR WRB FH: Black H2 Topsheet on 2.0 40deg Quattro BH: Red Palio CJ8000c on 2.2 35 deg Saviga When bouncing a ball on the rubber it feels dead. This might be due to the tack of the topsheet and my choice of a soft sponge. However, when looping this rubber really preforms. Service: I use this on my backhand and I use a shakehand grip. I don't serve very much if at all with my backhand but I have tried to serve with this rubber. So based off what I have done, service is ok; there is not a lot of spin. Short Game: - Pushes are spinny and hard to return - Flips are fast if you have good technique (unlike me). - Blocking is good. This rubber will send most of the incoming spin back. Loops Cole recommends this rubber for looping since the topsheet is very thin and able to produce lots of mechanical spin. I agree. With backhand loops there is a lot of spin and pace. Loops are generally medium throw but can be made low. In conclusion, this rubber is an excellent looping rubber that lacks in the service area. |

If the topsheet is thin and slightly tacky, how can it be bad for service? This, IMO, is ideal for service.

It would probably be my choice of soft sponge or my technique. The only way to know though would be to try it for yourself.

I have Palio CJ8000 on Dawei Saviga sponge (from Cole). I've used it unglued and glued and tuned. It really comes alive and is great for looping when glued or tuned. Did you get the 1.5mm-thick topsheet or the 1.4mm? The 1.4mm gives a little more spin than the 1.5mm (mechanical spin). On a high (or even medium) toss serve, the ball sinks into the sponge just a little more with these rubbers and you can get great spin on serves with good timing of the wrist and dwell time. Some rubbers have thicker topsheets or harder sponges, so all of the spin has to come from the topsheet. But your Palio is still good for serving.

I think I got the 1.4mm sheet. I play without glue.

Well, I've tried a lot of setups, and two of the best setups I'd used was with glued Palio CJ8000/Saviga. So if you ever want to experiment with the tuners just a bit, you have a good rubber with which to start. The good thing is that it doesn't cost very much.
