sorry wrote it in text format
do you think its ok to change a players style half way through a season or should i wait to change his style during the summer break

he is naturally a back hand chopper and struggles at them moment as he is using an offensive rubber

however he still finiished 4th in the last provincial tournament

yeh go talk with him, a coach helps, but in the end its his decisions, based on ur suggestions/advice and his own consiciousness on what to do in the future.

i dunno for me i was at a crossroad for a little bit, whether to take the euro style kinda stroke compared to the long lumbering stroke of the chinese. i tool the euro road, and it has helped me with my consistency.
i lost my racquet

I agree with theman; talk to him.  If he accepts then I'd start right away.

if he is reasonably skilled a change of rubbers shouldn't send him into a negative spiral, especially if the new rubbers suit his playing style better.

the sooner the better, if he's good at chopping with fast rubber chances are he wont have a tough time adjusting to slower ones

decided against it. im going to wait till the summer. thanks for the advice. i brought it up with him and discussed the options and spoke to the other coach in the club and we decided that the tim eit would take for him to become a successful chopper would damage his season so not going to do it till the summer.
