I saw them in butterfly.co.jp Ekstaule is faster and softer than Kim Taek Soo(Cypress Max in that
website) Is it better than Kim Taek Soo (more power and control)?
Which subjects that make Hinoki is more popular than the others although
it's very very very expensive ?
I'm Kim Taek Soo(new model) owner I bought it because it's more
beautiful than the old model(for me) but i'd like to ask which one is better?
If I wanna buy a new one what should I buy? I want the greatest speed
for topspin and smash....Thank you so much

I had Aspyte which is similar to Ekstaule (which I tried also for a few shots) and I have 9 mm Cypress and Speed 90, but I don't like the feel of the Aspyte and I find that thinner blade is more suitable for me. Price wise, if you buy Kim TS or Cypress Max, then they are expensive, but if you buy normal Cypress or Speed 90, they are cheaper. My Speed 90 has denser and more regular grains compared to my Cypress. There is (or are?) a long thread on single ply hinoki. Just use the search function.
Regarding your questions, I believe Ryno can give you a valid answer. |

I've read all of the relate topics and answers so I'm glad that this site has
many ppl like me :)
Ryno is a specialist for this type of blade so He's admirable ^^ and I'm
waiting for his reply.
In my country,penholder (especially J-Pen) is very rare and super weird
from the other ^^" so I can't find anyone to talk to and sharing experince
T_T...I was surprised when I found this site and some(quite alot) ppl
talked about J-pen,I'm so glad aeoliah and thanks so much for
your reply :)
According from what I've said.There's only dealer in my country and
they're Butterfly dealer(they have some of nittaku and andro for J-pen)
So It's very hard for me to buy the other brands...T_T...
I've bought Kim Taek Soo and I satisfied with it(because no chance to get
the other brands and maybe KTS is the best choice I could get) so if I
would buy a new one naybe i might go to KTS again ><" but there're
2 models of KTS...the old one with red korean logo and a new one with
blue english logo(that i've bought) In your opinions which one is better?
The old one because of a little bit older wood? Or a new one has
developed something from the old one.If u know anything about them
please tell me :)
And now I believe that J-Pen might go with hinoki so
carbon,arylate,arylate-carbon J-pen have gone from my thought ><"

I have never had KTS, so I cannot comment, but general opinion is that the old version of KTS is better because it is supposed to be made of older and better quality of Hinoki.
Regarding carbon blade, I have one Schlager Carbon C-pen and I like it very much, too bad that it is too heavy for me (92 grams plus it is the X type, meaning it is slightly bigger than normal). My Cypress 9 mm is 86 grams, and my Speed 90 (also 9 mm) is 84 grams. The Violin I am using now is 77 grams. I guess your KTS is more than 90 grams. |

The Blade's weight is not important for me :) I don't care to much about it
but the less weight means that blade is more drier right ^^
so i'd buy as less weight as i can Thanks so much....
maybe i'd go to post a new topic how to choose the blade which is the

yeah i don't care for carbon j pens they are too hard but are not that much faster than a 10mm jpen.When it comes to looping it is hard to beat a single plate hinoki with it's touch and speed.I have owned the new kim and old kim blades.The older ones were more consistent in weight and grain as opposed to the new ones as they can range from 85-110 grams.So is one better than the other ? yes and no ,you can get a newer kim that is just as good as the old. you should be specific when ordering to get the right weight for you and check the grain for tightness The kim will be straight as an arrow but the spacing varies more so on the new ones.If you want something faster try the xiom giga platinum.

Oh Ryno...You are my hero thanks for your reply so much....
When I bought this blade I didn't know anything.The seller asked me for
the old one or a new one? He told me that they are the same spec and
not different so I like the screen and the blue logo of the new
one so I choose it because there's no one I can calsalt T_T...So If I gain
enough money I'd go to buy the old one for sure ^^
Ah master Ryno....If I'm going to buy a new one,and they're all the same
model.How could I get the best ?Please suggerst me how to choose them.
Do I have to bring a sclae ? If I do,what type of scale should I use ?

you can easily spot them visually.just look at the end of the blade .make sure the grain is straight as possible and that it is evenly spaced.Usually the tighter the grain the faster the blade is.Also look at the face make sure the grain is straight.the grain will be straighter on the face than on the ends.got to this site and look at the hand picked blades http://shop.ilpp.idv.tw they have the pics of the grain and the weights of their blades.This will give you an idea what i am talkng about.
