You can get Butterfly Solcion from Iruiru.com now even though it does not appears in the English version of the website. You can email them to say you want to order it and they will tell you what to do.

According to an article in Butterfly Japanese edtion website, Solcion is supposed to have a very soft sponge, and is designed for non-professional players to make it easier to play. Because it is soft, it is more mistake tolerant than more powerful sponges like bryce, etc.

now yogi_bear, be nice....people prefer expensive equipment over cheap chinese one for a lot of reasons.

i, for example, use sriver.  i can find a lot of cheap chinese rubbers that plays like sriver, but the fact is chinese rubbers are not as consistent as a lot of more expensive brands.  a sheet can be very different to the next.

i have tried a lot of rubbers in my days, i used mostly butterfly, bryce, Catapult, Sriver....you named it, i have tried it.  i have yet found the quality of these rubbers differs, what you buy is what you get.  i would rather pay a little extra for that.

of course, some people with no problem with money can buy whatever the hell they want and think that would make them a better player.  someday, those people will learn that skill, not equipment is what they need.

KLSP, im not referring to chinese rubbers.. all im saying is that butterfly rubbers are way overpriced and there are lots of euro and jap rubbers with the same level of performance but a lot cheaper

Agree ! Even butterfly can contest butterfly. I still believe that a sheet of sriver EL heavily glued isn't noticeabily slower than a sheet of bryce glued. At least for us, mortals.  A pro would make the difference but not me.
That said I also understand KLSP who sticks to BTY products due to their very consistent quality. And who knows, Solcion might really be the solution...?

I disagree with the statement that heavily glued EL isn't noticeably slower than a comparably glued up bryce. I think anyone who swings hard, regardless of level (to an extent) can tell that the bryce is noticeably faster.

One of my freind's uncles is a product tester for butterfly. Hes already got some Solcion. Butterfly's theory for this rubber is to help developing players learn to use jap rubber without speedglue. Its soft enough for controll shots, and it's basically just a glorified controll rubber at an outrageous price.

Whoever it was that said that butterfly is the nike of table tennis, i agree, most of their products are overpriced and you really, really, should not buy butterfly products until you've played with a $16 sheet of chinese rubber for a while. Don't assume that because its the most expensive that it will be the best. Just assume that it will be more consistent in quality.

I tried out the Solcion today on a Carbo Balsa x5 blade. It is a rubber with extremely good control. Helps to have more rallies. It may not have the killing power of Bryce, but makes playing table tennis more enjoyable. I will use solcion from now on since I am not a professinal, but merely enjoyes playing table tennis.

As far as I know it is only out in asia and all other sites I know of that have it are in japanese. You'll have to wait or figure out a way to get your credit card working @ iru...btw I highly doubt it is worth the price...

Solcion has a very soft sponge (28). Bryce is 34 while Sriver is 38. At the same time it has Butterfly High Tension technology in the rubber and sponge, which gives it reasonable power. The soft sponge improves the control and makes playing less error prone.
