I can think of a couple advantages to combining sponges (a.k.a. double an triple sponging). I've seen it done, but I wonder if it's legal, illegal, or in the grey area with regard to tournament play?
It would be cool to have a nice firm base sponge, then a softer top sponge under the top sheet, or visa versa depending on your game!
What do you think?
Can we do it?
Should we do it?

What if I have two 1mm sponges+topsheet?
I think it might be cool to try if legal. For me it would be nice to have that firm base under a soft cushion. I'd have improved control, spin, and speed . . . a legitimate second gear when hitting hard! Any thoughts? I might be way off, but it makes sense to me.

It's not legal.
1.4.3
More than one layer of cellular rubber (sponge) is not permitted, even if the layers are of the same composition.

Hey Tommy,,, I keep looking at my mouse pad for the putr. A ball bounces like crazy on it. Real bouncy sponge. I think I will try that and see what it does.

If this double spongeing is legal then I would like to get an H3 sponge and H2 sponge and maybe Feint Long II OX and make a combo with that so longer it is not going to be more than 4mm
