I was thinking of making a ball catcher/collector (whatever you call it) for practice at home.

Example: http://www.doublefish-us.com/table_tennis_accessories/ballcollector.jpg - DHS Ball Collector

My teammate's idea was to use my old hockey net frame (its plastic) and wrap a mesh net around it, propping it on 2 chairs so it would reach the table height.

Anyone have any ideas for mesh/frame construction materials? (bear in mind we are in high school and have a low budget, but all suggestions are welcome!)

just a long pice of tubing, drill a hole in one end and tie some string through the middle so you can slide balls in and they won't slide back out, PVC may be the easist material to find.

Eh...thanks for the quick replies, but I didn't mean a net for picking up balls x__x.

If you look at the linked picture in my original post, then you'll see that its more for serving practice so the balls don't go on the floor

i meant to get a proper fishing net that you throw out in the ocean to catch fish and put it over your hockey frame

Try to jerry rig a frame with some old piping and use some tarp for the catch

Oooh, sorry for misunderstanding. Hmm...fishing net and tarp seem like good ideas, I'll check out the local hardware store for those tomorrow!

Thanks for the suggestions!
