I may be forgetting or not aware of other good products out there, but I just wanted to get a poll going for some good active feedback on these VOC-free, speed glue alternatives. Which do you like best? What are the specific results that you've had? In your opinion, which is the best product in terms of practicality, least trouble to apply, least time to apply, longest lasting results, unpleasant side-effects (smell etc.) I'll add to the list any that I'm forgetting if you just let me know. Thanks!

The pressure box doesn't give any effect, it just keeps the effect in there after you have used tuning.. But if you want it up there, Joola has a pressure box too..

I just realized that I can't edit this poll to add new items, so I guess we'll just have to make do with what's there. Please feel free to add other products in your comments though. Joola's Tuning Box is a valid addition although Schlager makes a good point that the pressure boxes are just for maintaining the tuning. Do they work with the other booster products mentioned here or are they only worthwhile with certain specialized rubbers?

I personally really like Ecolo Expander II. The problem I have with it is that when the effect wears off (about 4 weeks) there's no easy way to just to reapply the Expander and get the effect back for another few weeks. Am I wrong? Is there an easy way to retune without scraping off the glue and starting over? What about with the other products listed in the poll?

lasts 10 days to 2 weeks in three layers
1st day too soft, then becomes sharper
makes the sponge slower rebuild than speedglue so a bit lazy feeling
sounds as speedglue, fast as speedglue, a bit lacks of spin (apx: 5%)

(I use old Alser 1970 blades, 5.4mm thickness, 163154mm head)

Tried on G2 and Bryce. Well, not so effective. I am convinced that it works with FX sponges

I suspect most voters would not have tried more than one booster/tuner, since they've only been around for a short while, so the results might be more of an indication of what people have used (and were happy with), not which is better....

This is a good point haggisv. Really though, the goal of this poll is threefold:

#1. determine what most players are using and why,
#2. find out if they like the results and,
#3. gather information on a wide variety of products to help us all decide what's best for "me".

Thanks to all for their feed back so far! CTE seems to be winning in terms of popularity at this point.

It's a good poll, and it's certainly done that, but it was worth pointing out I thought. I only compared the CTE to Falco Booster side by side on a medium hard chinese rubber and a hard sponged chinese rubber. I feel the falco booster is better if need need more sponge softening, but if not the CTE seems just as good. it obviously depends a lot on the rubber and waht effect you need persoanlly.

You should try the new Stiga Booster Wink Pretty good stuff imho.
I voted for it because it has the strongest performance if you apply it both to the sponge and the topsheet. I had 4 layers on the sponge and 2 on the topsheet. Very nice Tongue

CTE has my second vote. The effect is good. Good spin, but a bit too fast imho. The big advantage of CTE is that the effect lasts 4 weeks.

99% of all players will be happy with one of the new tensor rubbers like Donic Persson Gold, JO Silver, Nimbus etc.

If you want better performance (spin) and don't like the hassle of tuning every other day I'd go for  CTE.

If you want maximum performance and you don't mind a bit of work, I'd go for the Stiga Extreme Booster.

I don't see how Dr Neubauer Pressure Box creates glue effect by itself.

My guess is that it will make the glue effect in treated rubbers last longer, using high pressure to slow down evaporation rate.

Date Posted: 02/01/2008 at 10:16pm
In my understanding the Dr. NPB helps maintain the glue effect. I'm curious to know if anyone is using it with one of the above products or with tensor rubbers and with what results. Anyone?

Anybody knows of any place besides PaddlePalace selling Tibhar CTE in the US/Canada?

It seems kinda strange that they would be the only ones carrying it...

Hi Jim - You converted me.  I have order CTE and Clean Fix glue at Paddle Palace.  They should be here next week.  I have some brand new Sriver EL sheets to try it out with.  Can't wait.  I do not know if any other place in the US or Canada that carries Tibhar CTE.  Maybe they have some exclusive right with Tibhar?

All I hear is that the rubber will act like it was speed glued. So my guess is that it will be curly and will have a unique smell. OR ITTF will be using Alien Tech to scan our rubbers and destroy out planet. The bad news is that when I watched how to apply it, it takes 12 hours

so i just got a sheet of nitakku H3 js recently and tried it out ......completely dead ....well you could spin the heck out of it still, but forget hitting

so i boosted it with falco booster......and wow that did the trick. perfect, just what i would have expected from this rubber, now you could pop and flick balls over with out hitting it to hard. livened up the rubber just right

with just one thick coat, the rubber was really bending. now just to see how long the effect lasts?

oh and to ad to the comment above this falco booster is VOC free and suppose to be able to pass the ENEZ test .......there is no doubt in my mind that players on all levels are still boosting, tuning, or glueing there rubbers...well just have to wait and see what the future holds for this rule!

The effect lasts for over 3 weeks... I don't believe it's completely VOC free, but the level is supposed to be so low, it's well below the legal limit...
Manufacturers still use VOC based glues to put their rubber together anyway, so even a new rubber out of the packet, won't be VOC free....
