I had this rubber for roughly half a year and I play twice a week total 10 hours?
Wonder if it is worn out or not. As you can see it is faded in colour, less tackiness than the lower part of the rubber (obviously I hit the ball more at the upper part) and not shiny at all.

First I thought it was dust, then after washing and washing with a sponge that faded worn colour was still alive! btw, its still got fair tackiness when you press your finger into it

if you play 10hours per week, your gonna need to be changing rubber at least every 2 months or so, if you want it to be in decent shape...

I don't play 10 hours non-stop 1 day I play 4 matches and 1 day training 3 hours. I also do robot training for about 4 hours.

Seems like that rubber is toast.  Do you have a hard time generating spin with it and does it seem like you're just flat hitting all the time?

ttrubberman is dealer that sells tuned chinese rubbers. And as far as I know he doesn't have provincial versions.

How come you are using a rubber for 6 months when I can use mine for only like 3-4 weeks.

Sounds good. Well, if anyone needs any provincial rubbers, I have 39/40 black available and 40 red available. You can check out my thread. Just search "hurricane 3 provincial" under for sale.

Wow 3-4 weeks? That's way too expensive!
How many hours do you play?

After reading this thread I'm afraid I should change rubbers more often...

Any good way of telling when you should change them? The problem seems to be that they wear gradually so you don't really notice it (unless they are way passed their prime!).

There is a very simple test which usually works... but there are exceptions, as always...

Take a TT ball and drag it across the midline of your rubber (which sits on the blade, naturally). Don't push it too much into the rubber but don't allow it to roll, hold it firmly. If you feel that at some portions of the path it slides too smoothly without much traction as compared to the other locations, then it's time to change... usually, the more you move inside the more worn out is the surface so the friction should be felt as you start dragging and if somewhere in the middle you begin to "skid" that's when you know that your rubber is beginning to become "glassy".

By the way, I know people (I was one at some point) who like to play with glassy rubbers - they have better control and do not react that much to the opponent's spin. The downside is that you can't really spin the ball with such rubber.

yeah, key being the difference between different areas of the sheet -- on my forehand the middle wears 3-4 times faster then the edges, because i hit 90% of my balls in the middle 25% of the sheet. Backhand, however... let's just say i'm glad i play pips, lol; it's probably entirely the opposite..

3-4 weeks if you're training hard (and gluing like mad), but if you're playing 5-10 hours a weeks, with durable sheets like h3, sriver, mark v, you're wasting your money, imo

Hi Lachlan Tan.

Buy new rubbers and take those to do some experiment.....  put some layers of "oil lamp" or "parrafine" on the top sheet and you will see how your rubber get more live, friction, and speed.

Regards,
