Hi everyone, Ok, so I just got this new glue a few days ago, and it's a pain in the back to remove. I don't have any old rubbers to "play" with, so I was wondering if there was an easy and SAFE way to remove the buildup. Any help would be appreciated! NF P.S. I've tried regluing the rubbers as-is but the buildup causes unevenness and bumps... |

if you've glued it many times it should be easy to roll of, I know mine is easy enough to roll off even on a sponge as soft as Bryce speed FX, just take your time and roll it carefully, try not to pick it off you will tear lots of the sponge off!

The buildup is really thin, but uneven... I can't just peel it off.. |

| Use GooGone to remove it. Take a disposable kitchen towel, put GooGone on it (not too much, just make it wet), then rub it on the glue. Wait a minute, rub the glue off. Works on Free Chack too, although it is more difficult to remove then traditional VOC glues. |

Thanks for your advice. How about some acetone-based nail polish remover? Is it safe to use on the sponge? |

Absolutely the way I did it and it took less than 10 mins for both Bryce Speed and Bryce Speed FX. The BTY Free Chack rolled off easily after I had glued the rubbers a few times with it. Removing glue from any sponge can be troublesome at times. I roll, roll, roll and end up with potholes everywhere. Sometimes, it's best to simply reglue it back on a blade without removing glue. ------------- For More Info, PM or Email me: [email protected] |

Agreed. I used to worry about glue build up years ago when I used to use the same rubbers for about a year long; speed gluing them 2-3 times every week. But now before I care about the build up, I change the rubbers every few months. Actually, I didn't intend to remove the Free Chack glue build up either. But after I had glued them a few times, one day as I was preparing to glue the rubbers to a different blade I aimlessly scratched the sponge with my nails and surprisingly noticed how easy it was to roll the build up glue off. So I finished the job on both rubbers in less than 10 minutes -- I got a few potholes here and there, but no serious harm done. I know peeling off the build up glue instead of rolling off surely cause less damage, but it was more difficult to do in my case. maybe this is a stupid question to some of you, but i am kind of ignorant when it comes to all of this... and right now I am using BTY Free Chack, but I had never heard of it being difficult or anything. My problem: I know what peeling is, but what is rolling? how is that done? Thanks for the help. |

I dunno, I kinda like the peeling glue off process, cause when I glue it again, it only takes 1 or 2 layers of glue to dome a lot. I personally either rub it off or if the glue is very thin like Stiga Energy, I use lighter fluid. Just make sure you don't spill any on the topsheet.

I use the BTY free chack. At first, I apply the glue with a piece of card board. Due to this, the glue applied is thick and uneven and can be peeled off easily. Then, I sought to use a sponge to spread the glue out on the rubber. This way works perfect for me. After that I get a very thin layer of glue surface which need no peeling and it is evenly spread out. The next time I want to use it, I just apply another thin layer. You can use the tibhar booster to remove the glue.
I bought the booster but didn't like it s� now i only use tit to remove the glue. put a layer of CTE on the sponge wait ten minuits then just rub it off.
