Galaxy has two new rubbers I was just asking ttrubberman (GREAT seller) about - he has these: Mars - first non-tacky rubber from galaxy, spin 9 speed 12. Available from OOAK, affordableTT. Jupiter - same speed / spin ratings as Mars, but not sure about the tackiness. Available only at eacheng. In comparison, Venus is spin 10 speed 9 by galaxy's rating system. I've tried Venus 2.0 38 degree from Cole and I'm very impressed. The topsheet is elastic, a little thick, and VERY spinny even when the rubber has been played to the point of being almost non-tacky. Throw angle is medium. Control is very good - with this rubber, you can vary placement, power, and spin comfortably. Hard strokes are rewarded with speed and spin, but both loop driving and brush looping works with this rubber. I PO tuned the sponge and speed + spin increased in proportion and the effect lasts a long time. Just to put my experiences in context: in my experience, LSZ II has the same properties, with a topsheet that is slightly more elastic and a firmer sponge (41-44). LKT Silver Dragon OTOH is more drive / smash oriented - loops are harder, brushing not possible for me anyway, but the spin from the topsheet is great. New Skyline 2 #19 is the latest rubber I'm trying and is working best for me at the moment (untuned) with a committed loop-drive stroke, no brushing with this one (kind of like Silver Dragon) - next step is to move it to a softer blade, and try tuning with PO. Skyline 2 has a nice low gear. H3 #19 has an even lower gear that no rubber I've ever tried before has, beautiful! So the short game + service is _very_ powerful with both of these. Definitely suited for a 3rd ball attack game, but in rallies you have to go full bore. More comments forthcoming from me. Back to Galaxy. Anyone know anything about these new rubbers? Is Jupiter tacky? And what is the effect of going from 2.0 to 2.2, or 38 to 41 hardness (besides the obvious consequences, I'm curious to hear if anyone has compared the two thicknesses + hardnesses and has a preference of one over the other) While I'm at it, if anyone has comments about Sword rubbers I'd love to hear them. What's the hardness of Sword King vs. Hero? Many thanks for any insights.  |

I have tried the Mars, the sheet I have was completely non tacky and has a high throw. It was on a spot on softish 36 degree sponge (think Almana sound), played reasonably well.

@cole what's your hardest and fastest sponge? I'm looking for something to whack the crap out of the ball with. What's your suggestion?
