I currently own a M Maze Fl with Sriver El 2.1 on both sides. Sadly, I threw it against the wall about 1.5 years ago and the handle snapped off. I've been using it with the handle glued back on. I am (was) very happy with how it played both glued and unglued but am looking to invest in a new blade. From the buzz on the forums it seems like Xiom is the hot new brand. While I know it would be wise to just stick with what I'm used to, buy another M Maze, my superficial side just wants the latest and greatest, not because I think it'll be any better, but just to have it. Can anyone recommend Xiom products that would match my existing setup? Important considerations are "feel," handle shape, width of the throat by the handle (didn't like the Donic Dicon for this reason), power (obviously)? good advice.... i tried some of their blades, didn't think they deserved the hype - stuck with my butterfly blades.... on the other hand, they look really pretty - but albeit they don't play any better than yours. ------------- Senkoh - 85 with Sriver EL 2.1 Keyshot Light with Sriver FX 2.1 |

What are the XIOM blades that you have tried? What kind of strokes you have played and why do you think they don't play better?

Butterfly Michael Maze is a good blade. If you don't plan to be another EJ (which will cost you a lot of money!), I suggest for you to stick to what works for your game. For Xiom blades, I've tried Xiom Stradivarius. It is a fast, close-to-table topspin blade. I like this blade, but since I'm using short pips for my backhand now, I find this blade won't be suitable for my game now. XIOM Amadeus or Absolute Control are suitable for combination players with pips in the bh.

In quality they are quite same, but in strokes Maze is superior! -------------

Thank you all for your insights. It seems that even in a forum of EJs the general advice is to stick with what works. For the most part I seem to be able to adjust to whatever I use (eventually) but I kind of just want something cool looking. I'll probably end up getting the Maze again, or TBS, which I'm sure I can adapt to. Maybe even try out a Joola blade. What kind of strokes?
When you've said that the quality is the same, do you mean the same wood has been used in both the blades?
