Will tear mender destroy my hinoki blade when I remove the rubber?  If so, what is a good blade sealer?

Use a strong hold hairspray, finely mist the blades surface and let it dry then lightly sand with a very high grit sandpaper.  Hinoki is pretty smooth to begin with so I don't think you would have to do it many times.

Thanks for styling tip, my hinoki will be slick and look fabulous.

My friend's c-pen Darker hinoki also split.  He glued it back together and it split two additional times.

I just sealed my Galaxy V1 (hinoki top sheet) with my usual Minwax brushing lacquer.  I couldn't tell if the factory had applied any type of sealer. Because this is my first blade with a hinoki top sheet, I was not going to take any chances with this wood type as it seems quite soft and also because the price of this blade.

I use Tear Mender most of the time now, so I would be interested to hear as well from others about sealing non 1 ply hinoki blades.

My friend in the club plays with darker 1 ply cpen. At one night he loop hard and hit the edge of the table on his end. The blade flew across the table to the other side and landed about 2-3 m from the table.

Just had a dent/dink on the edge of the blade. It was a few monts back. Still playing fine today...

If you worry about TearMender destroys your blade you can seal your blade with Polyurethane (see picture below).  If you want to know more about different sealers, please check this link: http://www.mytabletennis.net/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=23540&KW= - Sealers

Please DON'T use hairspray... not too good...

Does Hinoki absorb sealant quickly?  Once I applied Minwax PU spray on it, and "the wetted" part disappeared so quickly, I thought that I did not apply it evenly.  I sprayed again for the 2nd time, only to get the same result.

My experience with Limba or Koto, you should see the "wetted" part at least for awhile, before it disappears.
