With such a span of different technologies and methodologies that we have available in blade, sponge, and rubber manufacture what 3 paddles would you build to represent the spectrum? I mean there is hard, soft, thick, thin, fast, slow, spin, control, speed, japanese, chinese, european etc...give me 3 racquets to represent them all.  |

Wow...62 views and no suggestions at all? Not even one? I figured there were those on here who had their favorite blade and rubber combinations. This should be an easy one guys.

Ok I'm not going to represent them all but 3 very different blades I have My main blade is very control oriented with a glass fiber balsa but also fairly offensive with H2's on it, that's a good combination, pretty much everyone at my club prefers it to their own blade. Another blade I have (have a couple different one actually) is Hinoki on carbon with paulownia core, they go well with soft/light chinese rubbers makes a good stiff fast looping blade I still have a blade of my Fathers that he used to great success in the 70's. It's a old butterfly blade all around speed. He used to use it with 1.5mm sponge Yasaka toranado on the forehand and 1.5 mm sponge Butterfly tackiness chop on the backhand. I had the same blade once but mine eventually wore out and snaped in half during a loop (wood was rotted) When I first went to 1.8mm sponge he said I was silly because I'll end up playing worse due to missing shots and I'd say he was right at that time with the 38mm ball. 1.5mm was enough then. Anyway that kind of blade and rubber combo Mark V/ Tacky shop was also popular was the typcal loopers setup back then. you would just slow chop a few times then let loose with the big loop, good combo, very easy to use. I should stick some new 1.5 mm rubbers on it and see how it plays thse days, might be a revelation ------------- |

i would probably like something that is like the new HK which is thicker than the previous versions. this would be very much for chinese style. but to add something special, i would like a very thin layer of carbon on the bh side of the blade since it would give the bh more power since i usually slap the ball anyway. the carbon would also dampen the vibration that wood blades usually have. ewwww vibration.... i think this combo with go great with chinese rubbers since this should be a stiff fast looping blade. pair that up with my usual Joola tensor rubbers on the bh and i think this would be a great blade. i dont see the point in having more than one perfect blade  ------------- Custom Walnut 7-ply DHS H3 Provincial untuned 40° BTY T64 210g |
