korea is sending joo, oh, ryu and lee jung woo and japan only matsudaira kenta, takakiwa and chan.

maybe because he is a great player, working as hard as everybody in china team, but lacks a mental toughness and doesn't have major title yet :)

Yep, hopefully he'll be able to call himself a world champ after this event.

my comment revolved solely around the fact that LGL does not like Hao Shuai, and I am simply suprised to see him there over a couple other players.

Bah, what's the deal with teams avoiding direct confrontation with the Chinese? Seems like most tournaments one or the other doesn't show up in full force.

yeah very disappointing that the other teams aren't sending their top players. Maybe Kenta will put on a good show against the Chinese and his  bandwagon will kickstart again lolLOL

Jun Mizutani is training in the mountains. He's going to come back with a fury. Maybe a beard, too.

and the korean team is now joo, oh, lee and jung young-sik.

does anybody have that match?  for some odd reason, only the following 3 matches are posted at ITTV.  maybe china was so embarrassed at that loss that they told the ittf not to put that one up for all to see.

something's up with ma long...  for someone at no. 1, he's been losing a lot this year-- he lost to boll at the worlds, and to yan an twice in the super league and now to lowly chan kazuhiro of japan (formerly of china).

i think china has got to replace ma with someone who's better playing at no. 1--WANG LIQIN!!

The strokes of all players don't have the same power as before.

VOC threshold was decreased to 3 ppm.

This is not a silly rumor.
Tuning is not cheating when it's "Factory Tuned".

Btw, i know that he was injured.

anyhow, i just watched SWSS's youtube post of the ma - chan match and ma looked totally off.  a lot of balls he normally hits, he missed and missed badly.

god, i feel sorry for the guy, cuz that look on coach liu's face was scary.  he, without a doubt, got a tongue-lashing, if not an actual lashing, after that loss!!

too bad mizutani and kishi weren't there.  maybe after that win, they coulda gotten fired up and come up with another win and perhaps an upset.

Posted By: takaaki
Date Posted: 09/28/2010 at 8:37pm
maybe, ma was trying out a new rubber.  cuz he really missed a lot of shots and a lot of 'em went over chan's head.

and since japan didn't bring their A-team, it didn't really matter if they lost a game...

I think we were talking talking about Chan Kazuhiro playing in the Japanese league before or something.. and looking at his game many of us thought this guy will be at the top. I wont be an idiot and say he will make it to the top because of a single win, but his play was very good!

Well he's doing well with the BH serve, 5:1 to the other side of table. I may have a suggestion for him: try the FH serve with a much lower toss, so that his head won't get in the way?

Chan Kazuhiro- another chinese playing for Japan.

You can tell he's chinese just by watching him play.

Han Yang (kan yo) Song Haiwei (Yoshida Kaii) and now Chan Kazuhiro. Chan played very well. I don't give that match alll away to ma long's injury. It would have been a good match if ma long were 100% because chan was consistent and is a good style to counter ma long's style of play. Definitely wouldnt be a 3-0 win though lol.

Finally, the Nigerians let their younger players get some international exposure. Nothing against Segun, Monday and Kazeem, but, its time for the new era to get ready to take over. My assessment from watching some of the videos is that the Nigerians have a lot of talent and very little coaching. What you see are guys who have figured out how to vary spin and placement at a very high level but lack basic footwork fundamentals and service variation.

the ref was most definitely right and baum himself conceded as much.  if you listen closely, baum blew up and yelled out something like, "you can see the moment of contact!  what am i s'posed to do, cut off my head!!!"

i've been saying for quite some time that he needs to get faulted, cuz that serve of his is clearly illegal.  that said, i do think he had a point about the ump not faulting him earlier.  i think it's best that the umps go after the players early in the match and don't wait till things get heated up.

and then he lied when he said he never has a problem and no one has said anything to him in the last 500 matches!!  that's just not true--i haven't been counting, but i believe i've seen him faulted at least 5 or 6 times this year (before this match), so he's gotten faulted fairly often, though not often enough, cuz he still hasn't changed anything.  maybe prez sharara needs to issue a "patrick baum alert" so the umps can go after him like they went after ma long on his backhand serve.

for starters though, a coupla those guys there need to go a diet and lose some weight and then strengthen their legs, so they can bend down a little lower.

it's hard to bend those legs and stay down when you're too top-heavy...

Well, he was at #50 - I should think he will break into 25-30 now.

With Dima disqualified for two years, they will need another top-20 player... badly!

what?? is it official now?? he's been disqualified??

as for baum, i wouldn't be surprised if they put him in the top-20 next month, since he's just beaten 2 top-20 players.

the ittf is rewarding the players now for big upsets, as they very well should...

His doping tests from China Open are positive for clenbuterol - you can find out more about this by googling or by searching here at the forum...

sigh and yawn...China won again, Korean and Singapore managed to win just 3 games against them in the final, the only decent match being Feng and Gao Yan going to deuces in 3 of 4...so boring, and Joo didn't even play in the final! They played Jung Young Sik who lost 11-4, 11-8, 11-5 to Wang Hao. Yeah, definitely don't play Joo who nearly beat Wang Hao just a couple weeks ago...

Not sure if anyone else caught this or cares, but was watching the Oh vid up there and saw at 2:37 or so on a closeup of him serving that his blade has a all brown handle instead of black like with his namesake blade, just pointing it out.

they also didn't play oh until the doubles...

anyhow, joo has an excuse.  i think he's honestly just worn out, which means he can't play his game and would have to be offensive to keep the points short, which works to the favor of the chinese.  so, he was probably thinking, "why bother?"

anyhow, it was a bore, cuz the most of the top players from the rest of the world didn't show, and the ones that did, didn't play...

what i have noticed lately, beginning with the euro championships is a lot of players have their handles wrapped, more than ever before!  and i've been wondering if that is purely to increase the grip, or to hide the fact that they are not using their sponsor's blades.

With Dima disqualified for two years, they will need another top-20 player... badly!

Baum beat Schlager and Samsonov at European Championship and Joo here. I think, he will crack the top 25 if not top 20.

Well I saw the end of the blade when he was serving and it was all brown too.

something's up with ma long...  for someone at no. 1, he's been losing a lot this year-- he lost to boll at the worlds, and to yan an twice in the super league and now to lowly chan kazuhiro of japan (formerly of china).

i think china has got to replace ma with someone who's better playing at no. 1--WANG LIQIN!!

compare the ball speed to last years world team cup and it is slower now due to being able to get away with less tuning.
