After a lot of practice and tournaments, I've come to realize that T05 2.1mm is too advanced for me and I'm unable to control it. Even more so, T64 2.1mm is way too uncontrollable for my backhand. I've read multiple times that a slower setup will allow for a more controlled game and will in fact benefit your game. After reading many discussion threads, I've decided on the following rubbers: Galaxy Moon 2.0mm (33 or 38)- FH Xiom Vega Europe 2.0mm- BH Any comments/ other suggestions? ------------- GO MUSTANGS! |

If you can afford it, have you thought about dropping down to Tenergy with a 1.9mm sponge? The Vega series seems a popular tenergy substitute although I haven't used them so cannot comment. That is the same realization that I came to. While I have fun playing with Tenergy, I play better with Moon. It isn't just my feelings, since the change I have had better results in a recent tournament. I have received complements from many of my practice partners about my control and the power on my opening shots. Moon does not do the work for you like Tenergy does, but it does not work against you either. Short shots are easier to pull off, as are serves.  One of my friends a 1700 two-winged looper has chosen Moon 37 degree for his backhand, and I think is favoring one of the Hexter rubbers for his forehand.  ------------- Donic Waldner World Champion 1989 ZLC (Inner), Donic BlueStorm Pro (Red) Max, ????? | I echo Barracuda as a possible replacement. It probably does not bite the ball as good as tenergy. However, this can be adjusted with your stroke. However, Tenergy top sheet last a bit longer than Barracuda. But ttnpp.com is selling Barracuda for $33 a sheet. You can play two new sheets of Barracuda instead of one tenergy. |

My first custom paddle was a TBS+2xT05. It was too 'hot' and heavy for me. Only now after one year of play do I even consider playing with it from time to time. Keep the T05 rubbers and seal them well in plastic baggies and buy something cheaper. I have come across club players that kick my a$$ with Sriver FX. There are a lot of good learning rubbers on zeropong.com or colestt.com. Eventually you will be good enough to try the T05 again. ------------- I TT therefore I am |

You could almost make a sweeping statement and say if you are under 2000 US and aren't being coached seriously every other day. Then don't use T05, there is simply no need for it. Put it away until you are being properly limited by your rubbers and honestly know that's the truth, that wont be until you reach at least 2000 US no matter what old slow stuff you are using now. When very good players start firing balls at you and you have no option but to stand back and fire back but can't due to a rubber without enough pop, that's when you need a faster rubber and not until then. Players under 2000 aren't capable of long range countering rallies so there's no need to have a rubber who's primary job in life is to do that. Is there? honestly ?. Red Diamond, Moon, The DHS Neos, things that are faster than a classic rubber are all good and fast enough to push you through the 1700-2000 range without the crazyness of the faster Tensors or Tenergy

baracuda is the best tenergy replacement for more control.but if you have a slow blade don't buy it because it might not be good

| i suggest to you genius optimum+ 2.0 thickness, i was using t64 on my backhand and made the switch and im very happy with it, hardness is about the same, spin is a bit less and speed is also less but u gain much more control. |

To the OP - why not just start with XVE both sides (a little thicker on FH and a little thinner on BH) and see how it goes?
I dunno. I think "Practice Makes Permanent" rather than perfect. Examples: -All of the matches I've played as a pusher/pick hitter mean that I revert to that style under pressure, because the sheer # of hours dwarfs my topspin and loop drilling. -I saw someone using the robot to drill a weird looking forehand. You really have to snip bad habits out as early as you can because if it took you a year to learn a habit, it'll take you a year to forget about it. It's the same as when you "Reprogram" your brain muscles controller by always practicing at a higher intensity and hitting at a higher speed and effort than you normally play at, then it becomes a permanent learned thing. xiom vega europe is great 2.0 is perfect has way better control than tenergy alot of players i play with have switched from tenergy to xiom omega 4 europe or asia, i prefer the vega its a lil slower but still has plenty of power until u become 2OOO level ------------- Blade:TBS FH:05fx BH:05fx |
