Hello All, I've recently bought a new Tenergy 64, 2.1 thickness, black. From the moment I glued the rubber onto my blade and bounced a ball on it a few times, I could tell there was a different feeling than my other Tenergy 64 2.1 (red). Firstly, I thought it had to be caused by the glue I've used (Joola Lex). Tried to reglue the rubber but it still had a different feeling. After inspecting the rubber, I came to notice that the sponge of the new Tenergy seems to be thinner then the other tenergy's I own. Allready contacted my supplier and he wants me to sent the rubber to him, so he can take a look at it. Has anyone else experienced something similar with a Tenergy rubber? Grtz Remco |

"From the moment I glued the rubber..." The bounce will feel different while the glue has not completely dried yet. I glued up one rubber, gave it about an hour, then played with it and it felt kinda dead and slow. Then the next day, tried it again and it felt completely different, quite fast. Thanks for the reply's. I do know that a freshly glued rubber can feel different. After I glued the rubber on, I've let it rest for a day due to this. The day after, the rubber felt exactly the same. That's why I became suspicious and discovered that there is an actual difference in sponge thickness. It's not much, seems to be like 0,1 mm or so, very hard to measure. I've let my housemate check it (blind test), and she noticed the same thing. I've bought the first Tenergy at the official Butterfly distributor here in The Netherlands. The second one has been bought at http://www.sporteurope.nl/ at the Dutch Championships tabletennis. I'm sure that it can't be fake. Grtz Remco |

There is a range for thickness, I believe the range for Tenergy max is 1.9 to 2.1. So you can have a small difference between two max thickness rubbers, when I was using T05 in the past, I had the same experience. ------------- Gave up listing, too many changes. Maybe they put a 1.9 in the packet instead of 2.1? Shouldnt happen... Havent had that from Butterfly before but did notice a 2mm sheet of Omega IV Pro was same thickness as a Max. ------------- Stratus Powerwood FH T05 BH T25 |

I have some problems with t05, i have a sheet that is less tack and softer and more light then a new one that i get... and it is like that since new.... so i am thinking on geting the t05fx trying to found a sheet like the first one i have |

+1 out of the 7 or so sheets of t05 I've played with 2 were too soft - one red, one black. Sometimes if you cut your sheet at a certain angle, or one rubber is slightly shrunken inside the blade the other is slightly overhang it can make sponge thickness appear different. I hope that's the case here. |

I have been using Tenergy 05, 2.1 ever since it first came out. The quality
on the first 5 sheets was GREAT, but when i took the rubber off EVERY sheet
shrunk quite a bit.
There is no doubt Butterfly became aware of this and I was told by someone
in the know that they re-engineered the Tenergy 05, 2.1 to have a thicker sponge
and thinner top sheet.
Interestingly enough, my RED sponge on the last few orders is CLEARLY MUCH
thicker than the black sponge.
Some of the sheets are lighter by weight than other sheets and the surface
has a different grip.
Quite frankly, i think the quality control SUCKS on the latest Tenergy 05,
2.1 rubbers and I have been having lots of problems with how they play.
When I go back and stick on some of my original Tenergys, even though they
don't fit the blade, they play MUCH better.
Has anyone tried Hexer HD, as I might go to this instead of Tenergy?
Also, I might go to Tenergy 64 2.1 on both sides, any opinion either way on
this?

On all tenergy packages it is written 2.1 mm~ 1.8~2.1 mm 1.5~1.8 mm Which means it is possible for a T 1.9 to have a bigger sponge than a T 2.1 |

Once you play T05, you'd have a hard time adjusting to lower throw rubbers.

I've played with Tenergy 05 on my forehand before, and now 64 both sides. Biggest difference for me is that topspin balls go lower over the net now with a bit less spin. Tenergy 05 "grabs" the ball more, Tenergy 64 seems to be more forgiving. Though, I didn't need to adjust my strokes very much. But as I mentioned in the starting post; I'm having the difference in thickness problem with two T64 sheets, so I'm not sure how that will fix your T05 problems.... |

update: my supplier is sending me a new Tenergy sheet! Great service, but I do hope this one is the correct thickness. To be continued! |
