I want to try my hand at making my own blade.  Can anyone recommend a U.S. store (online or otherwise) that sells wood or plywood good enough to build a competitive blade?  Thanks.

The key is in the choice of words when using your favorite search engine. Search for "wood veneers".
I like  http://www.veneersupplies.com - http://www.veneersupplies.com because it seems like the person knowing the veneers can update the site or have a direct connection with those who do; I just like the language and the love of wood the site carries. Their articles about vacuum press, glues, tools etc...make the site a reference to me.

I am told eBay is also a good source for veneers. I guess for quality you will have to try the sellers and see.

I like http://www.certainlywood.com - www.certainlywood.com .  They have a large selection, quick service, and low shipping cost.  They do not have an online order placement system, however.  You will need to call them to provide CC information.

wow, thanks for the links.  those certainly make me want to assemble from the veneer level.  unfortunately i don't have the expertise and equipment yet to glue and bind (maybe someday) Smile.

in the meantime, i wonder if there's a source for single-piece wood plank that i can cut (i have a belt saw already) to the shape of the racket.  thanks again for any further tips!
