This was used by Jan-Ove Waldner  at the height of his day, destroyed the Chinese including Ma Long.

Are you back?
I'll check the Waldner training video - don't recall him teaching chop blocks in it.

Chinese name is "side cut" or "side chop". It is "side" meaning right to left movement(for right hander), which avoids countering the incoming top spin. It is also a chop, fast up to down vertical movement.

A lot of times, I find Chinese TT terms are very self-explanatory.

you must be delusional, The Chinese owned him back then and who have owned him now. So all of you haters quit. The Chinese are far superior than anyone else in this sport. That's a fact. I bet the top 15 Chinese players can beat any non Chinese player in the world.  And I am not Chinese by the way but tired of people making unreasonable comparisons.

During his reign to a Grand Slam, Waldner did own the Chinese during that period, one reason he is highly respected by them in that sport. I have to add, pip players were his poison though :p LOL

Thanks for the Waldner discussion. However, getting back to the issue at hand. Does the video suggest any techniques or pointers on hitting the chop block? Thanks in advance.

Comparing to Ma lin's chop block, Ma long's chop block is very ordinary.
