Hello ! I want to try a pips rubber on my backhand but to be honest i dont know what to get. Im a lefty and my all life i have been playing with inverted rubbers soo i need something that dont need a big learning curve. My backhand is like the weak point in my gain i dont attack often soo primarly i need something that is good on blocks, pushes, some counter blocks and good in service returning. What can you advice? The blade i use is timo boll alc. Thanks!

Since you're unsure, keep it cheap. RITC 729 make cheap but effective pimpled rubbers. For short pips I'd suggest 802-40 (very spinny, not much effect) or 802 (less spin, flatter ball) or if you want to even try long pips, 755 (the consensus easiest long pip for beginners). ------------- Gewo Aruna Hinoki Carbon Gewo Nexxus EL Pro 53 SuperSelect Yinhe Qing |

| If you have a weak backhand short pips are not for you. Better stick sone slow rubber on like tackiness c or super defense 40 |

It's slow but great for returning serves and blocks because it absorbs pace. You can also try spinlord sandwind.

If you are really young and ambitious then you should invest into coaching lessons and coaching is limited to double inverted rubbers equipment in most cases. Classical antispin rubbers (like Yasaka Antipower or Butterfly Super Anti) are the easiest to play with weaker BH if the level of opponents you want to win is not very high. Long pips rubbers are less universal then anti but are more effective for specific passive styles. It is a trap to limit your table tennis to specific LPs styles too early. I know several intermediate level players with stronger FH and weaker BH that play middle length pips (Dr. Neubauer KO/Aggressor or DRM Power Pipes). Such kind of destructive MPs that are closer to long pips (defensive) then to short pips (primarily offensive) are not easy to learn but they are more effective for mixed passive/active BH play. Technique and strategy playing destructive MPs are somewhat similar to anti so IMO they are natural "upgrade" when you understand the need.

| Hello, I am just a casual player, not an expert tournament player. But I have played for many years against many kinds of players. Some use pimples. I like to use double happiness equipment. They are very good quality and reputation, as you know. I used PF4 rubbers. I am a defender. I can make strong backspin and hit easy balls. Thank you. |

recently I played two matches against two type of defenders using the same long pip . I never ever had so many different problems against a long pimple. One of the players was blocker the other player was a defender. | I am buying new equipment. A donic defplay senso with PF4 and Cloud & Fog 3. Can anyone give an opinion on these rubbers? I like PF4 but I'm thinking about Hurrican 3 or Hurrican 3 Soft as advertised by Table Tennis 11. I know PF4 already. But there are so many variants of Hurricane. And I can't find any reviews on Hurrican Soft(?). More importantly, does anyone have an opinion of Cloud and Fog 3 at 1 mm. I am experimenting with long pips as I normally use PF4 on both sides of a pre assembled paddle Thanks. |
