Background:

As you can see from my sig, I play pips on J-Pen(802-1). I like the set-up since I can do my spin variation game quite effectively.

Last weekend, I've won a berth for a semi-final place but the problem is I am facing my practice partner who knows all of my spin game. He can read my hands strokes 90% of the time and I CAN'T FIGHT fire with fire since he is younger than me by almost 10 years. In short, I have great difficulty in winning against him.

Probable solution:

Surprise and change my game style just for him. I have two full weeks to practice.

As you know, 802-1 is a short-pip that is somewhat more spinny than the usual short-pip but not as spinny as an inverted rubber or other spinny-pips out there. Characteristics of the rubber is very low-throw and can pick-up below the table balls if you have the distance and hit the ball hard enough yet can do some spin reversal on touch shots. You can play the looping game with this rubber but you can't counterloop quite effectively as an inverted type. Very good rubber for spin variation game.

The question:

Anyone can tell me what is the lowest throw inverted rubber out there(as low throw as a short-pip, if possible)? Preferrably Chinese.  Please no Bryce since it would too expensive just to use a single time.

I don't generally like low-throw rubber, so I have not tried that many. Once of the lowest Chinese ones I tried was Globe Awala....

Of course Friendship 804 is also very low throw, but they class it as an anti-spin...probably not quite what you're after, but you did say invertedTongue

I have one blade that has cheap chinese spinny rubber on it and .6 sponge, the thinnest I could get.  Maybe something like this could help.  The close to the table game is somewhat like the SPs, but you can now skim the top of the ball, and have an all around spin game.

I agree with radical, use a sheet of chinese rubber with very thin sponge, 0.5-1.0 mm.  You will be able to create good spin if you carefully brush the ball but the thin sponge will still let you hit and drive effectively.

I found the cheap $5 729 Lightening to have an extremely low throw on several different types of blades and 3 different sheets.  Has anyone else found this to be true?

I would feel nervous switching blade before an important match.  Not to be discouraging, but imo your move will hurt you more than your opponent.  With two weeks of practice, most likely you still play the same game, maybe with a little more spin but probably a lot less consistent and confident.  But who knows, your gutsy move may pay off.  Let us know how it turns out.

Well, many thanks for everyone who provided input/ideas. As of this moment, I am trying the recommended rubber types. I am even testing the anti-spin idea of Mr. Haggisv :) it is really low throw, very good blocking rubber. The problem is I can't attack with it. As for the Globe Awala, I think it is already discontinued.

I would be trying the thinner rubber combo tonight and try to see its throw angle.

I won't be changing blades but only the rubber ;) yes, I will still play my game but with the help of my new inverted rubber maybe I could throw my partner/opponent off guard and he would be more nervous and less confident than I am and I will try to blitz him with spins since he is used to my pips set-up. But that's a big MAYBE, but I'm crossing my fingers. I would have to build-up my confidence level within the two weeks.

Again, thanks for everyone who gives very good inputs/ideas/suggestions. I'll give updates on the result of my inverted set-up once in a while and my result during the match day.
