    Posted: 01/08/2009 at 4:05pm
...Sigh... I still can't choose the right rubber for my blade ! On the backhand, although Sriver FX do great job pushing but blocking is really well ( maybe too soft ??? ) and the loops sometimes go to net ( this is maybe my technique problem so I don't blame it ).On the forehand, my loops are still very strong with Nimbus Sound and its easy to flick but I don't feel there is enough spin ??? I'm using Amultart blade and I'm considering some rubbers : Joola Express 1 or 2, Hurricane 3 blue sponge no.19, maybe tensor and tension rubbers ??? Anygood suggestions ? I heard some people said that chinese rubbers can't go well with blades like Amultart : stiff and fast, is it true ? Plz let me no.Finally, I have like 2 weeks before the competition, should I change ? I train everyday and I get used to the rubber really fast so I don't think it will rally affect me ?

Best regards,
Lan.

Hey guys ! I also don't use speed glue due to ITTF speed glue ban and I have never ever used speed glue XD ! Weird right ? So maybe playing tacky chinese rubber will be an insane idea ? But if I buy a Chinese rubber, I will choose either Hurricane 3, Hurrican 3 blue sponge no.19 or globe 999.And is it ok if I just use speed glue to soften the rubber and then I clean it away so I can still play tournament and so the '' ENEZ box '' won't disqualify me ?

chinese rubbers normally doesnt go well with carbon blades because they are used for looping. carbon blades suits better for blocking and smashing. if u are trying chinese try glass fiber blades or maybe SOFT carbon.

Chinese rubbers are awesum on carbon blades like the Amultart when the rubbers are speed glued or tuned.   However, the H3 #19 or blue sponge without tuning is softer and disappointingly slower.  H2 is a bit faster without tuning but still disappointingly slow.

It does help to initially tune or heavily speed glue to break in the sponge but after the effects wear off, the power while better than no break in, is still too slow.

Doesn't speed glue lose it's VOC after been left to air about 1 week? Surely after 2 weeks, it will be gone unless there is another test that ITTF is conducting apart from ENEZ.

That means I can buy a Hurricane 3 now ( which is said to be powerful to loop, serve, short game, ... ) and then put some speed glue layers in to soften it and then after one week, I can still play tournament ?

if you haven't played with chinese rubbers before it will take some time to adjust...

i'd say try sriver el on the bh and other jap/euro for the fh... perhaps zeta?

Ahhhhh....I like tacky feeling and those rubbers I already have on my blade .... But the problem is, if you just speed glue one time and then no speed gluing, the rubber will be affected, don't they ? it will lose it speed ? What will be my choice now ....

the h3#19 is already soft. I don't like h3#19... or h2#19 for that matter. I prefer the older version #20. Now the older version might need some serius work done to soften them a.k.a. priming. but even then it might be soft enough for you if you aren't accustomed to using the hurricanes series...

actually if you're leaning toward using h3#19 commercial... i recommend the 729-08 instead. it comes in three different hardness 43, 45, 47. but not sure if you can get to choose. i tried the 47 and it didn't feel awfully hard. there's also good comments on the haifu whale ii rubber but black only. don't know if you can make it on your time frame though.

so, i stand with my earlier comment: sriver el bh, zeta fh. those you can get quickly i think... the change wouldn't take a long time to adjust for the time frame for your competition...

later (after the tourney) you can experiment with the others...

Sinus Alpha is good on fast carbon blades, it has better spin than nimbus.

One of the best Chinese rubber i have ever tried on a carbon blade is Higher on transcend (that greenish) sponge..
It was on my mate's a stiff carbon blade, but still can generate lots of power and good spin..
