except for the outer layers all the other layers are little pieces of wood put together with duct tape.
presumably the outer layers are one piece to give that nice appearence the customer is looking for.

this blade is made by donic in sweden and approved by the jttaa.
what are they selling to us?

Video would have been more believable if the person making it had started with a brand new blade and then shown us how he stripped it down to the bare essentials. Hard to tell what might have happened with this video as it is. The handle does not look brand new.

this is a brand new blade.
separation of layers due to being heated in an oven.
blade was standing by the handle, that's why the bottom looks darker.

If you are disgusted as well I recommend Xiom, they advertise 1-piece cores and joint-less veneers.

Many forum members think it's rubbish to want that since we supposedly can't feel the difference but customer's perception has value and if I want it other people will want it as well. I guess we are now 2 wanting it :)

I thought when they had layers with multiple pieces they would glue them on the side.
like the joola bomb or the boll forte.
I would have never imagined they would put duct tape to hold everything together.
What's the point of creating a blade with limba-spruce-ayous if you are going to put tape everywhere.
It changes the feel of all the blade.

Not surprised. Those are veneer tapes. The most common technique in splicing veneers together.

At least this one has it done symmetrically.

BTW, this one was made by Wood House.

original idea was to seal the blade and then put in oven.
this would make it absorb more sealer and give it a nice touch.
it worked great.
gave it a look like the joola flame.
then I gave it another oven touch.
looked great.
then a couple more touches to make the color even.
and in the last one I forgot  the blade was in the oven.
So when I took it out all the layers had separated.

I was not trying to see what was inside a blade.
It was an accident.

I was interested in the video, but I had to turn it off after a few seconds due to the irritating music.

Why didn't you just mute the sound?

Veneer tape is the most common way to keep veneers tight when you bond them. You can't glue the edge of a .75 mm thick veneer. Since its attached with the grain it's not going to effect the way a blade flexes. It is also responsible to not waste a natural resource. Unless you play single plate Hinoki your blade is just pieces of wood glued together anyway. Now I also understand if you pay good money for a blade you want the best quality product and I think a lot of TT players define "quality " as appearance.

I never thought they did it this way.

I have 4 Stiga Infinities . There are no obvious multy-pieces parts.
Are there 1-piece core and joint-less veneers ?
It looks so.

I played against Marc Duran when he was a child, at regional level in Spain. During the warm up, just for fun, he started playing with the piece of wood that usually goes into some batcovers, and he was amazing!
I mean, the player is the important thing. It is important that gear is suitable, and that it fits with your way of playing. Gear matters, but also other things that change constantly: the table on which you play, the floor, the humidity ... the good player is the one who knows how to see these changes and adjust to it. The way in which different layers of wood have been assembled in a racket, is a minimal affectation in the universe of table tennis.
