Get 802-40 or clippa. They are excellent choice for someone coming from inverted. |

clippa is a nice pips, but from what you say, i dont think short pips is a good choice for you
if you are not attacking enough, it is way harder to attack with short pips short pip attacking takes a lot of control and a perfect stroke, so it is not for the fainthearted |

I don't know what you are going to gain by using short pips (by the way, it is NOT "pipe" but "pip"). If you are thinking of just trying to confuse your opponents with dead ball blocks, instead try long pips. Block with long pips could be downright deadly. |

Idk what was said above, something about sidespin and SP aren't good at blocking.
Depending on the sponge, SP can be used as a blocking tool, or a flat attacking tool. Thinner sponges are great for a blocking oriented BH. Thicker ones are meant for Straight out attacking. But all SP's are good for blocking. They help to cancel out the spin of a ball, or hit through the spin. Sometimes, there are short pips with a slight deception factor.
But bottom line, if all you do is block with your backhand, Short or probably even Medium pips are a good option. However, keep in mind that if you even topspin with your BH a little, you're better off finding a slower more controllable inverted to steady your blocking. You might not gain much from using short pips otherwise.
