They are horrible blades. However, you can try to teach her how to play for a few weeks before buying new one because if she doesn't like it then it will be a waste of money for you.

the sportcraft paddles with inverted rubber are the worst of the worst

however, I knew a player who did quite well with a sportcraft hardbat... he was probably 1400 at least.

the hardbats don't last long but they're far better than the inverted (they're both junk though)

I noticed a fairly high level player ~1600 at the club yesterday who was using a modified sportscraft hardbat that still had the blue pips on the backhand of his traditional penhold, sawed off and wrapped up, handle.

I remember finding a really old sportscraft racket at college that had a very large, flared handle that was very comfortable, and I put some old 729 rubbers on it and it played amazing, great control, but I gave it to a friend who had large hands and he said it was the only handle that felt right in them...

These premade blades are not as bad as they are cut out to be. If the purpose is to make a barebones cheap beginners bat, these Sportcraft and other premade blades are an excellent choice to pair up with leftover rubbers on hand. I frequently look for blades the rec centers at Army camps are looking to trash. if the blade is not damaged and only the rubber, I use an old sheet of rubber to rub off the sticky crappy heavy sponge/glue residue and slap on a used sheet of Dawei XP 2008 Super Power, sometimes a new sheet ($7 a sheet big deal) If you play daily or better yet are at a club where players change their rubbers a lot, then if you are good in removing teh sticky mess, you basically can make a free bat for a rec center or a new player while they decide thier style and suitable equipment.

Many of these rec center bats are ALL or ALL -, maybe ALL+ in speed and usually 5 ply wood. Paired with XP 2008, it si easily a controlable racket a beginner can use for a spell while learning the game. I have made many of these bats for Army rec centers using blades they were about to throw away, because their rubbers were peeling off leaving teh sticky sponge.

Go for it if you are of a mind.

At work I removed the pre-made rubber and put on 729 OEM 2.1mm.
If you can get the existing rubber off you can put on 729 OEM 2.1mm
729 OEM 2.1mm cost $5 and plays well enough for a rubber that cheap.

Perhaps not so horrible, I was defeated in the finals by that "horrible blade". Went up against a very good basement player that lasered flat hits by me faster than Luck Skywalker's light saber. LOL

I will post some pictures Tuesday cause I'm not at home but the bat feels quite hard and it has a few patches, she is using an old butterfly premade its almost anti already but she is picking up the game fairy quickly, after 3 days she is receiving the ball nicely and adding a bit of top spin to it
