Sriver L seems to be a great rubber but it's quite heavy for a japanese rubber.Especially when you play max and 2.1 thickness on a 85 grams blade

does there excist a rubber that's very very similar to sriver l but lighter in weight?

YASAKA Mark V 30 is softer than BTY Sriver L.  I don't think it is similar in my opinion.

Right but he's looking for something similar but less weight. The softer sponge will weigh less... and if he speed glues it will play better.

first use a cheap kitchen scale and weight your cutted sriver L. Example: Sriver L 2.1 black Primo Carbon 157x150 weight 46g, without package and not cutted 64g, with package 84g. A light Sriver L/S 2.1 is about 42g cutted normal 44-46g and heavy ones 46-50g. All classic jap rubbers are similar heavy. Mendo (is a bit softer), Speedy Spin, Mark V, JO Waldner, Vario (a bit softer).

Mendo MP is lighter and is usually fancied by sriver players.

I'd change the blade. Your problem is a balance of racket. Really, Sriver is great rubber and I'd play it.

No, no. And lifting is not assist - the reverse may be true, reaction time is may reduce. Weight is not a problem. 85 grams, 75, 95... It's no important! Important only time of contact point ball with the surface... May be the blade too speedly, may be the balance is not ideal.

Why is Wang Liquin working out his left arm though? Maybe it doesnt have anything to do with his game, but rather to even out his left arm with his right. (Maybe this has been discussed before, but my right arm is larger than my left from TT)

Its for balance, the same reason people deliberately lift more on the off-hand.

PS: Bodybuilding is unecessary, toning improves muscle strength without added bulk.

TT freak is right. You can use lower weight to not add bulk and do higher repetitions. Toning will add definition to his muscles and stamina and flexibility if you add stretching to the schedule.

Usually when you decrease weight on your racquet, get ready to lose some power from your racquet. BUt a slightly softer sponge will most likely create a favorable situation for you.
It's definitely a tradeoff.

ehh SriverL is great it isn't heavy my first impression was wrong.

SriverL is a great allround rubber with heavy spin and nice speed. I love it
