Crystal Carbo 5/7 and Rosewood NCT 5/7 blades are already available in Dandoy and some other webshops.

Anyone tried one of these?

I will buy the Rosewood NCT V in some days, but I don't know when I will have time to try it, because I have a busy schedule till the end of June... A friend of mine (also a member in this forum) will buy the Rosewood NCT VII, maybe he could write a review faster than me...

Mmm...those Rosewood blades look beautiful, possibly even better than the Ebenholz. Are there any complaints yet about poor Stiga quality control? Anyways, I can't wait for any reviews! Free bump I guess...

Poor QC is a politically uncorrect euphemism for bad quality, suggesting that Stiga products are OK but people at the factory down there in Hungary are not.

Poor QC? First of all are they handmade in Sweden, not Hungary.
And rosewood and ebenholz are hardwoods which can have different shiftings in colours. Not as your avarege Hinoki which is a softer material that most brands use.

My good friend ordered an Ebenholz from www.pingpongonline.com and after 45 days, it arrived with the upper veneer in two parts and scratches on the other side. All factory made. This is Bad Quality.

The worst thing about all this is that after a Paypal dispute, they agreed to replace the blade, got it more than one month ago and still did not send the replace Ebenholz.

Bad trade habits, I would say, as a nice complement to the bad Stiga quality.

I have owned several Stiga blades and while they are roughly finished, they are not bad quality at all. I think the seller who sold you the blade and took forever to send it, then resend it, is probably a more likely culprit for taking a returned blade or defective one and then trying to sell it as new.

CC5 arrived today. Not played yet. Interesting blade, almost white outer plies but not hinoki. Can't tell what it is. Spruce as the 2nd ply and carbon on both sides of core. Didn't weigh it but probably about 90-92 gr. Handle has some hair splinters and rough, but the NCT coating, playing surface and sides are a step up in quality compared to Ebenholz V. Bad news is that it seems CC5 is also WRB. Knocking on the handle starting from top to bottom, sound gets hollow around the lens. Not 100% sure, but it's probably so. May post pics later if I get the chance.

Thank you very much for your input speaquinox. And thank you for your handle impression.

It is very valuable to buy the blade and tell what you think.

BMonkey, he knocks it because he bought the blade. 'supposed to' is not valuable. buy the blade and then talk.

I knocked because I know many members wonder whether these new Stiga blades are WRB or not (since Stiga doesn't give us any hint)

I don't know about Guo Yan.  I think she uses DHS.
But I think the Chinese media says Guo Yue uses Rosewood V.  (I saw it in a thread in this forum not long ago.)
The Stiga website says both Guo Yue and Feng Tienwei use Ebenholz V.

I like Stiga blades a lot but the CC, Rosewood, and the Ebenholz are just too expensive!

Nice pics. The finish looks better than the stock Clipper finish, which is good. Or did you happen to sand some before taking the photos?

How does it feel/sound when bouncing a ball on the bare blade?

Nope it's in original condition. The finish is good for a Stiga but not like a Butterfly. Still some hair splinters around the handle. Didn't bounce a ball on it yet.

It's a carbon blade with Stiga's crystal technology. According to them the crystal stuff is supposed to harden the surface and give the blade face a sparkle. I think someone said it might be soft carbon... Either way I'd imagine it cant be too hard given its weight and thickness vs. its speed rating.

Edit: Stiga updated their website with the CC5 and CC7, along with the Rosewood NCT V and NCT VII and the Rosewood NCT VII is rated significantly faster than the CC7.

Then again most blades are WRB This is a fact from the amount of handles I have removed, chances are you are playing with a Bty blade that is WRB or hollow handled and do not even know it.

Paddlepalace has its own ratings for the 3 series (CC, Rosewood, and Ebenholz) for awhile now.  It is quite different compared to Stiga's ratings.

6,5mm, may feel thick for some.
I didn't weigh it, it's a bit heavyier than my 88 gr clipper. Probably around 90-93gr.
