Please help if you have the experience.
1) If you have used Stiga Innova previously, do you know its approximate weight after cut for a backhand, say, a CPen Stiga CL (no space left between rubber and handle)? 2) Do Stiga innova, innova ultra light, innova premium, and innova ultra light synergy tech have same or similar or very different weight? 3) What brand/model are lighter and suitable for CPen backhand use ? (not used much but just put one there though). Descriptions claimed that innova ultra light is the lightest? thanks a lot for your time and help! |

RPB requires kind of a high throw and innova, while light, does not throw very high.
The Baracudas are both light and throw very high, and i know a couple of people that use them on RPB and love them..

Tenergy 64, while not as light, is a much more lethal backhand rubber for RPB, and is high throw. T64 is on the light side.

Innova Light is very light, played with it many years ago and found it to have poor durability and spin. Speed was ok. Juic 999 elite ultra is light, about 10% lighter than typical rubber sheets. Sinus Sound is a light one (great rubber) too.

Try Butterfly Sriver FX 2.1 mm first and feel it for yourself before choosing your next RBP rubber as there are many in the market.

I use Innova Ultralight on one of my backup blades. It is a very good shakehand "utility" (do everything) backhand rubber and can keep blade weight down when using Chinese rubber on forehand. It was glued with RC a long time ago (years). It gets used maybe 20 hours a year. It is in fine condition and still produces adequate spin and speed. It is very forgiving. A playing partner uses it for RPB, he learned RPB a few years ago, EJ'd a few sheets and settled on Innova Ultralight because it was easy to control, allowed him to unleash a decent amount of power. He also RPB blocks occasionally with it to confuse people expecting TPB blocks. The speed and spin are different enough from Hurricane/Skyline that it can cause the opponent to misread the ball. I don't agree with the folks who are saying that it does not throw high enough for CPEN RPB. The throw is medium and suitable for both drives and spinny loops as well. I believe that Innova Ultralight is the best of the series for CPEN RPB because it offers much of the advantages of the original Innova (light weight, allround rubber) without too many downsides (the thinner topsheet may wear faster, but only margially so). Being lighter than regular Innova, it can be a better fit for CPEN, where the wrist is doing so much work. I think the Premium is only available in thick 2.4 or 2.6 sponges, and has the thinnest topsheet. The Synergy Tech was designed to work with Stiga's booster (discontinued) and I do not like the way it feels with water based glue only. |

icontek, thanks for the info on Innova rubbers. Very good to know stuff as I have been interested in the rubbers given their light weight.
