I've been using the BTY Photino for about 2.5 years. I absolutely love it but have found I now require a blade with a better feel and slightly more power. I absolutely love the consistency and balance of the photino but want one with a bit more touch and power. Does anybody have any recommendations? How does the Timo Boll ZLF compare to the Photino?

Timo Boll ZLF has a way better feel than Photino but is slower. Still plenty fast though.
For power, forget faster blades and practice faster waist rotation during your strokes. This is what worked for me and it may work for you, too. |

You can try almultart witch has the same wood build but composite layer is zylon+ carbon. For me blade has rly nice fell and power. And you can glue on so many variations of rubbers on it, vega pro(rly hard) works awesome on it, same as acuda s3(rly soft). Good luck mate!

I agree with LGL. The TB ZLF, which I am using now, is slower than the Photino and has good feel. It has enough speed (9.0 vs 9.4) and is spinny. If you want a faster blade, I used the Ma Lin Carbon blade (9.3?) - it is a bit faster than the Photino, but slower than the Primorac Carbon (9.5).If you want one step up in speed, I wouldn't go to the Amultart, which is very fast. I believe the Jun Mizutani (9.8) is a bit slower and easier to control. My friend has an amultart and says it is way too fast for topspin/looping (though smashes are excellent).

Iolite Neo, it pairs nicely with most rubbers. Light weight and good power.

+1 to Amultart, Iolite Neo, and MJ. They are all upgrades to Photino in terms of power, but are similar in other regards.
But if you want more touch, I would say go with the MJ. The Iolite Neo and Amultart are rockets in the low gears. Or at least they have less touch than the Photino. You could also look into Korbel SK7 or OSP Ultimate. 7-plys with good power and decent woody feel/touch. |

based on what you are looking for:
- it has to be composite - it has to be less than 5.9mm in thickness now you figure!!

iolite neo is a good option for you since its pretty close to photino
but its pretty hard to find a blade thats faster then the photino with more touch

IMO you can alter your rubbers ... try medium hard or even hard rubbers like ( Genius or + optimum) , I think it will do the job ...
By the way when will you post your Photino in FS section ... please if you are going to sell it, don't give it to John as I see him lurking right now

I think T25 (1.9) will work well, adds speed and reduce the overall weight.
@ Pioneer, I don't know what you're talking about... btw, how r things in ur homeland?
One can never have too many Photino's.

'cause there are many thinner and faster composite blades than photino. but there's no thicker composite blade with better than photino. And he is also looking for better feel. In fact very very few pro mainstream players play composite blades that are more than 6.1 mm. |
