The Arsenal one is very special as it indicates that the wearer is a fan of the world's greatest football Club.Smile

Functionally, I don't think so.  I believe it is mostly a matter of style, promotion and identification with brands and teams.

Table tennis shirts are different in that if you keep buying new ones with slightly different specifications your loop will become better and more Chinese.  Regular sports shirts are just shirts.

As soon as the words "Table Tennis" are put on a Tee shirt, the price doubles or triples, just like glues and varnishes. LOL

No there is no real difference, a lot of it is just aesthetics. I really love my Mizuno shirts though, mostly because they look great.

the best shirt for table tennis are certainly made from TT brands. Try Mizuno or ExOfficio and you will find fabrics and elasticity not found in the Donic or BTY crap.

Yes, There is small different with TT shirt then "normal" sport shirt. The cuts and the way the seam are jointed differently to allow more movement of arms and upper body. The length are typically shorter and narrower then "normal" sport shirts to avoid interfering with racket movements.

Shirt with good quality polyester is the best. The rest is marketing :)

+1. I use shoe soft glue to put my Sriver rubbers to my blade. Works great and half liter costs only $1.5. Marketing is worthless in Armenia

You can probably lump all racquet sport shirts together, differing only in style.  Good characteristics
of the better rss are wicking away moisture, quick drying, one or 2 way stretch, anti-microbial treatment,
light weight, micro-polyester fabric. I think badminton shirts were the first to be technologically advanced along with dazzling designs and colors.  As a more physically demanding sport, performance apparel makes a difference in badminton. (best shoes are also from badminton companies) Table tennis followed the lead of badminton.  For table tennis you don't want a shirt too loose for fear of the ball hitting it.

Different manufactures put out shirts for varying reasons : brand identification/promotion, another revenue source and as uniforms for their sponsored players.

Individuals of course, need to figure out what they really need.  If you play in a hot environment, moisture control is more important.

You may be able to find some suitable shirts in the big box stores.  Look at golf shirts, tennis shirts or
workout shirts.

A Pompey supporter from the USA, Good lad. You must have lived in Hampshire for a while then? I once lived in Winchester sort of mid-Hants.

Be careful about generalizing shirts by brand. Just like blades and rubbers, there are shirts of different
price points and quality.  Cheap butterfly shirts for the U.S. and mass chinese market, better butterfly shirts in Europe, high quality shirts for the pro players and japanese market.
I guess U.S. retailers just want to sell cheap shirts, so that is what they stock.
Much of butterfly clothing in china is either cheap or counterfeit.
If you want the best shirts and best selection, try Japanese retailer like iruiru or ta-q
Check out high quality badminton shirts by Yonex and Victor sports.
In the big box stores, check out Nike, Adidas, Under Armor shirts.
