    Posted: 11/03/2008 at 4:07pm
So i picked up some TearMender at Ace after seeing the raves and watching the video which made it look extremely easy.

Well, it is extremely easy. My tenergy and Bryce speed adhered perfectly. I haven't tested the apparently easy glue removal process yet...but from what i can tell so far this glue is the stuff!

The only thing yes paste has over tearmender is price to quantity ratio.

I'll follow this up later.

tear mender is cheap if you buy from the right place. I ordered two big bottles of tearmender from this company online, for under $30 including shipping

YES! paste is great.  The 1-pint jar I have probably will last me for many years.  When it's gone, I will try the TearMender if ITTF hasn't managed to outlaw it Tongue

Got myself a 10 dollar bottle of Galaxy Aqua Glue from Cole's - and glued a couple of rackets today for the first time, using a small cheap foam brush. Seems very easy and fast. At this rate those 100 ml will last me 5 years at least - unless the glue will go clumpy and dry after a year or so. You only need a very small amount of glue which you then spread with a brush on both blade and sponge - easier and more consistent than rubber glue! The only thing that bugs me a bit is the fact that the foam brush (very cheap one) will have to be thrown away after another 1-2 applications like that - a shameful waste.

Haven't tested the rubber removal yet - but the glue seems to be of the same latex-based variety as my Tibhar Clean Fix (even smells the same) so I hope it works the same way.

I saw on a chinese forum people complain the glue removal is hard for Yinhe water-based glue. It seems hard to remove it from the blade.

I actually wasn't able to find Tear Mender in my local Ace Hardware. They didn't carry it! So I went across the street to the true value hardware store and they carried it right there on the shelf. So don't get discouraged if your Ace Hardware doesn't carry it because chances are one of the other hardware stores in town will.

I got in some little 100ml bottles of dawei aqua glue.  I'm going to sell them for $7 just until they're gone.  It's really good glue as far as, you can peel it right up in one piece mostly...or close to it.  Compared to the other two brands I've tried which were very hard to pull up, including the galaxy aqua glue.

Something tells me that the dawei glue is related to tear mender, and the galaxy glue was like yes paste.

is the dawei aqua glue thick or really watery??? Nittaku Finezip is very thick, but it does everything just like tear mender (glue it on wet, peels off in one piece) while tear mender is very watery.

So, Cole, should I dilute Galaxy Aqua Glue with something.. to make it less gluey...?

I don't know. I think the consistency is ok.  I just can't make the galaxy stay together in one piece when I peel it up.

if anything, I think it might do better if it was THICKER.  Also I dont think the dawei glue is as adhesive.  It's easier to peel, but it actually doesn't stick as well now that I think about it.  I've had more problems with it coming apart.  But starting over is very easy.

I am not sure I understand - are you talking about the layer of glue itself staying in one piece? why would you need that... making it easier to clean the blade, is that what you mean?

i have seen the galaxy and butterfly stuff, both look like they dry too hard to me and are hard to remove from the rubber, the yes paste build up stays on the blade mostly, which i hate, i dont want a sticky film on my wood at all times, feels like i spilled a coke on my blade and let it dry and that is all that is keeping my rubbers stuck to it, i think it dries hard also, tear mender is the closet thing i have seen to regular rubber cement except its build up is even easier to remove than regular rubber cement, this stuff is just better all around, if the dawei stuff is similar or the same, the question will be can we get it for cheaper than the same amount of tear mender

Don't mean to be advertising this company. But can anyone beat the price I got from this online company?

Posted: 28/10/2008 at 2:41pm
I just ordered two big bottles of tear mender, total came out to $26.96.
I ordered mine here: https://www.tractorsupply.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay_10551_10001_48797_-1______?rFlag=true&cFlag=1

I think tractorsupply is the cheapest. On amazon they were going for $15+$6 something for shipping and handling. So total $21.00
There was another seller on amazon that had a good price for just one bottle, (turtle company) but did not have good reviews, and buying 2 bottles from them would be more expensive than tractorsupply

popperlocker,  thats where I got my Tearmender.  It was 9.95 + MI 6% sales tax = $10.55 out the door.   I just happen to be in an area that has a few TSC stores.

How did you know they are the same? Basically, all these latex-based glues are white chalky liquids that smell the same - as I discovered comparing Tibhar Clean Fix with Galaxy Aqua Glue and some others.
