I think even Maze himself stopped using his blade and uses the Timo Boll spirit. Ma Long uses TBS, it's very popular among top pros and has more gears than the Maze.

hello i used all 3 blades, x5 the most
my X5 has 82gr, well balanced, feels good in my hand the best BH loop would go to MM, it was friendlier, i don't do a lot of brushing on bh, i keep my hand above table level, close the angle as i go forward and try to get as much sponge, so the more flexy tbs is more unpredictable to me for FH, hmm, next to the table would go to X5, just one step back TBS, depends on your shot again the worst bh X5, i always felt it steals spin, great for blocks but not so great for openings |

I'm playing with balsa carbo x5 and like it. I'm really want to try m.maze or timo boll spirit but I'm not sure that I can handle the speed of them due to my quite poor backhand..

Yes, they have a contract with Stiga, but they can play with the blade they want. There are many threads that have photos of his racket and if you see videos of him, you can see that he uses the Timo Boll Spirit. His forehand is Hurricane 3 Neo and his backhand Tenergy 05 if I am not mistaken...

what do you think timo boll spirit would play like if I removed the kiri in head only and replaced it with balsa.
I think it would be a pretty simple but slightly messy process. But I think I would remove about the 10 grams of weight that are my least favorite part about the blade. I think it would make the blade less powerfull, but possibly much quicker to play and even better balanced than now with my double tenergy usage. |

I have both MM and TBS. TBS feels harder because of koto outer plys instead of limba, it has lower throw, and abit less bounce. Speed is about the same, even though i found MM abit more uncontrolled (bouncier). All in all i prefer TBS, because it offers more precision in offensive strokes, as well as morecontrol in allround play. I agree with "it has more gears".

I don't think you can go wrong with either one. I own the TBS and love it, a guy at my club has a MM, and he wants to trade it with my TBS, so he let me play with it a little bit, I did not find much difference between the 2 (hard to say for sure as he has different rubbers on). I decided to keep the TBS though, as I think it is a more popular one.

MM would have a slightly mushier feel and because of the handle, a slightly different weight distribution. As mhnh007 said, you can't go wrong either way. Personally, I think the Viscaria is best of all.

Hi Baal, du you mean Viscaria or Viscaria Light? And would you see much difference between them? Is Viscaria Light a good substitution for Viscaria? |

I owned 2 M Maze and several Tbs. What can I say...i prefer the handle from Maze by far...it is so comfortable(IMHO). The tbs feels a little harder but M Maze has more feeling, more woody feel...Tbs works better with soft rubbers...M Maze has more control...

I meant Viscaria. I've never hit with a Viscaria Light so I can't comment on the differences. I never found Viscaria to be all that heavy, though, so never understood the need for a lighter version. |

I was trying any blade, since i stopped TT for 4 years(coz elbow injury)N i start again about a year ago.
Start with Stiga off cr wrb,YEO,Korbel speed, and last is TBS. all are good blade, but TBS is have everything, from balance weight, stiffness and i like so much is catapult feel from this blade and suit for any rubber.btw all are about my self expirience. Better way is try those blade before u buy..seem similar feel but different character i think. |

Thanks! Alright, but you hardly get a Viscaria below 90g. My Viscaria Light has 83g. I think there is a reason for the addition "Light". |

bros is right, the tbs does seem to have everything.
One word about weight though. If you get a 10 gram lighter blade of what it normally is don't expect it to play like what everyone says. the loss of weight comes less power for starters, some stability, sweetspot all start going out the door the lighter you go. |

What is this? Maze and Ma Long switched to TBS and now everybody praise TBS as better blade compared to Maze !!!
I remember few years ago when Maze and Ma Long used different blades, more reviews said that Maze was better than TBS (especially for the feeling). I have both blades and I still feel that Maze is better for me than TBS, probably I played more with Korbel, so Maze is a better replacement. Besides Maze FL handle is better than TBS FL (for my taste only). My point is, TBS is a good blade, but I still find Maze is better in feeling (for me). What makes me laugh is that now more reviews praise TBS as the better of the two, I suspect because more Pros using it now. |

After my current TBS is worn I will pull out my MM. Or I may get bored since I doubt it will ever need replacing, and just have the 2 simultaneously.

I think it is clear by reading TBS vs. MM threads from a few years ago and contrasting the general opinion then to the opinion now, that 99% of mytt members are either consciously or subconsciously heavily influenced by the preferences of the professional players.
I am suprised by how many fall into the subconsciously influenced group and actually believe that their preference for the currently trendy equipment has to do with objective preformance qualities that are relevant at their amateur level of play.

I am quite convinced that Viscaria Light is lighter. No doubt, the difference in construction insures it. I just would not like to play with a blade that light. Just a personal preference. |

I don't know, I read most people saying that both are good blades that are not that different, even if some expressed a preference for one. Also, TBS is not really the trendy blade anymore since the new series of Timo Boll and Innerforce blades came out, as well as Amultart, Photino etc. I liked the old Keyshot best of all -- mainly the handle shape. You are probably right though, if I switched from my Viscaria to either the MM or TBS my level would be --- the same. |

In addition to people moving from MM to TBS, the Ma Long case is also quite illustrative. Notice an increase in the popularity of H3 + TBS and a decline in the whole dogma that H3 should only be played with all-wood?

I suppose you may be right. The only times I tried any chinese rubbers I found them completely unplayable, so I just ignore all threads about them. |
