DHS TG Skyline 3

DHS Hurricane 3 Neo

Butterfly Bryce Speed FX

Butterfly Tenergy 25-FX

I read that Tenergy 25 is best for Quick Attack (Penhold). and out of these I was thinking Bryce Speed FX and Tenergy 25 FX would be the best for forehand? I'm looking for the best forehand rubber I can get.

What style are you going to play?  For some styles, short pips is the best for them.

I used to play cpen but switched back to sh due to an injury I had on my index finger.

TG3 Neo - my fave rubber. very spinny. very durable, tack does not degrade over time.
Palio Thor's - my 2nd fave rubber. fast and spinny with lots of control. i was able develop my strokes properly with this rubber. topsheet almost died after 2mos.
H3 Neo - felt dead after a week of play.

I don't have TBH, only RPB with Stiga Mendo Energy 2.0mm. this might be the very reason why I injured my finger.

I really hated H3 Neo, until I boosted it. Now its really powerful, nice and bouncy. Spin has increased greatly, and I really really like it now. (Thanks go to beeray for turning me onto boosting)

My person fav is TG 3 neo, no other reason, it just that i don't really like hurricane while i don't want to use BTY on FH. But one of our member in club used bryce, i'm believe, it is pretty good too for penhold.

I used Tenergy 25 and 64 for JPen before, the only problem is the serve seems like not as spinny as chinese rubber.

there are not many reviews on Tenergy 25 FX. I also play penhold with 05 FX on forehand for a long time and have ordered the 25 FX to find out the diffirences.

I don't know what any of the Tenergys are like. That said, Ma Lin uses Skyline II on the forehand and T05 on the backhand (photo evidence in another thread).

Since Tenergy is so expensive, I'd suggest one of the alternatives from Galaxy (Moon, Sun, and Mars 2?) instead. They're lighter and play like toned down versions of the Tenergys and would make your racket lighter and easier to control.

Between Skyline II and Thor's, I'd have to go with Thor's because I love the softer topsheet, but on the high end, it's quite fast so if you're going into the world of tacky Chinese-style rubbers, get one of the non-Neo rubbers.

Basically Ma Lin? Fast counter-attacking on the rising?
I would suggest DHS TG2 Neo with Bryce Speed FX in the backhand.

My favourite rubbers for close to the table CPen are 729-02 new sensor and DHS H2 Neo.

I have tried 25 FX of my friend but didn't suit my playing style as it is too bouncy for me. I prefer tacky rubbers on my FH thats why I didn't enjoy 25 FX that much.

Alright,

Is that the DHS TG2 Neo Skyline you're talking about??

What about TG3 Neo Skyline ? Why TG2 Neo Skyline?

I've read that Mars 2 would be a good fit for this style. I've never tried the Skylines, only H2/3/Neo. What is it about the Skyline series that make it a better fit for the penhold forehand rather than the Hurricane series? Are the Skyline sponges much different?

I always wanted to ask this question, and I think this would be an appropriate thread.

What is the difference between Skyline 2 and Skyline 3?

I'm speculating and can be very wrong, but I believe the difference between the Skylines is the same difference between the Hurricanes and the Tenergys (for the most part):  the rubber is the same but the pimples are different and the sponge may have some differences too.

I don't think they are necessarily a better penhold fit- It's just thought that way because of wang hao and ma lin. Xu Xin uses H3... so do most penholders I've ever seen and anyone i've heard of from china. The skylines are something you really only see national team guys playing with because Hurricane 3 works best for 99% of the people who have tried all 4 rubbers.

Skyline 2 is like Hurricane 3 but it comes off faster.
Skyline 3 is like Hurricane 2 'upgraded'

I think it's in the trajectory- The Skylines from my experience are meant for a longer trajectory kind of play.

It's Tin Arc for me.
I'm playing about three weeks now without serious EJ bug calls. :)
It just gives me everything (speed, spin, control) in right proportion and is just linear as the other Chinese rubbers. Thors is my second fav, but it's more demanding to technique and blade choice.

That's just another thing I like about it.  LOL  It's a combination blade with sides of different softness, a very nice one in many aspects, actually.

No, I'm talking about normal Tin Arc - it provides optimum speed on my blade for both FH and RPB. TA3 is supposed to be slower, so it still can probably (not sure because of its stickiness) be OK for RPB, but on FH it will make me to extract more speed from myself and that's not what I'm looking for Smile

stefashka, have you tried Tin Arc 3? it has more spin and control but with slight difference in speed compared to Tin Arc.

If you are going to try chinese rubber h3 is definitly the 'must try'. Its the most versatile allround
chinese rubber. If euro/jap, too many!!!

From what I see (the sponge of TA3 is not as porous as TA) and what I heard from TA3-related threads here on MyTT, the difference in speed is not that slight. Smile   Actually, I want to try TA3 anyway, but I already spent too much feeding my EJ bug, so a little break is needed to fix technique problems and  to better understand what I actually need from a rubber...
