It is with regret I had to withdraw due to injury in today's final Congratulations to my venerable opponent Mima Ito for winning the title Injuries have been haunting me since last year, and I have been through pain and suffering in training every day. This may be something that athletes must experience and face. Because of love, I insisted on playing five consecutive tournaments. In the end, the balloon finally burst. Maybe I really need to take a break. Learning to rest is also an important lesson. I hope that I will be a healthy and stronger version of myself in the next tournament. Lin Shidong is the next gen Fan Zhendong imo, none of the other juniors have such an advanced modern game as he does.... Also had the same amazing down the line loop control as Fan Zhendong did.

LSD/KM have literally won every WTT XD event in 2023. In fact, with this win, their entire top 8 results consists of Winners of the tournaments they entered.

How old is Lin Shidong?
Never mind, just saw that he is 17. He had lots of nets and edges against Dima which helped in a close game 3rd set. That may have turned the match around for Dima had he won. Regardless, LSD clearly outplayed Dima, didn’t have any trouble returning serves except for short backspin to his FH which he dumped into the net a couple of times. This is the first time I’ve seen Lin Shidong play. Impressive junior on a good trajectory to top 10 depending on his mental. Edited by NoFootwork - 02/12/2023 at 7:52am |

I didn't see any results on the results page for Ito/DHK match. On the video replay, DHK dumps her 1st two serves into the net and ends the match due to injury.
In Men's final, LSD wins easily over Dima 4-0. Pretty amazing for the 17 year old.

Togami has a mental hurdle he has to jump over. He definitely should have won game 3 with 4 game points. You cannot give a player like Karlsson any breathing room. He is ranked #21 for a reason. A powerful player who is not super consistent yet, but he has beaten the likes of Wang Chuqin and Hugo Calderano.

Maybe Togami could have pulled off the upset if he had converted one of his game points in G3, especially at 10:7 when he missed an easy BH. Still lacking some mental toughness.
So far, he hasn't been able to disprove Zeio's claim that Togami = Zhou Qihao.

I'm of course happy for Mima, but kudos to CIC for playing so well. That's a match worthy of a final. I think CIC's chances against anyone else in the draw are really good so it was a bit unfortunate that she met Mima in R16. Nonetheless, looks like her career is back on track so I'm happy for her.
