People have been mixing this stuff w/ paraffin experiment....and we can see how big of a mess it is becoming....so to sort somethings out....we'll create another thread....

To start this thread out....as a newbie in this field, I will ask some basic questions.

1.  Does gluing topsheet only makes it softer and thus spinnier but not more tense?
The reason I think speed glue makes the rubber faster and spinnier at the same time is b/c sponge becomes softer and thus expands, but since topsheet is attached to it, it stretches itself....

2.  How come tuning the topsheet makes it more grippier/tackier?  If anything....it should make it less frictional in my understanding....

Thanks.

Hi SIDO,,,
When you put lamp oil on the top sheet, it expands the top. I think this "reduces" the tension between sponge and top but,,,it softens the top and in the case of Coleman fuel, it actually makes the rubber almost sticky.
If you tune the sponge to get a dome, then the top, you will see the dome go down. That is from the top expanding so in my mind, the "tension" goes down. I have not tried the lamp oil yet, that comes this week. The Coleman fuel is probably illegal and I am hopeing the lamp oil works the same and is legal.
With Coleman fuel, the grip is "Alot" more than before treatment. I have three different kinds of rubber I have been treating the top daily to see what will happen. So far, they all have survived seperation and all are really grippy.
One was an old used sheet of Nano Cannon that had lost it's grip especially in the center. After one treatment, the grip is back to original or better and is the same all across the sheet.
Lots of experimenting left to do.Smile

Well....do you know though that HOW it happens?  lamp oil making the topsheet stickier/tackier makes sense....but grippier?  How?  Plus...if I glue the sponge AND the topsheet....the whole thing will become soft and wouldn't it be like playing w/ water?  I mean it will great for spin....but wouldn't it lose all its speed/power?
