    Posted: 01/28/2017 at 3:14pm
Hey there, I'm going on my first year of table tennis and the past couple of months I've started experimenting with different backhand rubbers.

I've found that I really enjoy the Rakza 7 topsheet and would like to try rubbers with a similar grip and hardness of the topsheet.

Any suggestions ? Thanks in advance !

I think you will really like rakza 7 soft, which has the same top sheet , but a softer sponge which translates into having much easy access to spin.

I originally had a sheet of rakza 7 soft,  gets good spin but lacks a bit of kick.

I've since tried rakza 7, which has also been good. I'm considering a Max Rakza 7 soft/Rakza 7 for a bit of extra speed, but also wondering if there's any other similar rubbers from different manufacturers.

Lot of players I know treat Vega Pro and R7 interchangably. I also like the R7. It bites hard and gives back a nice kick in both speed and spin.

+1

I think you'll like mxp.. It has the same spin as the r7. But has the kick that r7 lacks

+1 to the tibhar Aurus suggestion given. However the vega pro topsheet bites the ball a little bit less compared to rakza/aurus, however gives a whole lot more control on blocks and receives, topsheet/sponge combo might give a slight differnt 'feel' compared to rakza/aurus though you should be able to play juat as well with the vega pro Atleast on the bh.

If you needed more control I would have suggested EL-P but since you need more spin I'd say give MX-P or Rakza X a try, they have lower trajectory than Rakza 7 and Rakza 7 soft but they are speedy and have good control, especially with poly-ball.

@nv24

Have you tried other varients of vega rubbers like the euro and japanese, if so can you please compare it with vega pro? Which one is more speedy and has better control?

Iv tried vega euro, vega euro df and vega Japan. Vega euro df is pretty easy to spin with and really good for bh though it lacks speed and spin compared to vega pro behind the table. Vega Japan is a completely different rubber, its almost like a tonned down mx-p in all departments including speed, spin and hardness.

VJ has a longer trajectory than vega pro and a bit more top end power, hence can suit the BH or the FH. VJ comes tuned just like mx-p, bluefire m2 etc (though not as strongly tuned) and hence it might go down in speed/spin after a few weeks, though you notice as big a drop in perf as mx-p /bluefire m2 etc. If you'd want to know anything else, you can always pm me. :)

Thanks, which one would you recommend for a passive BH on which I don't loop much but mostly block, push and punch, much like Adriana Diaz. I want control and speed don't need much spin but it has to be good in BH side-spin serve and not too sensitive to incoming spiny serves.

So would you recommend Vega Pro or Vega Japan for my style?

Vega pro all the way if you are looking for a controlled bh. Definitely my all time favourite rubber for a do-it-all bh rubber that won't hold you back in spite of offering good control.

And I've heard that it's one of the most durable rubbers, guess will give it a try!

By the way, how well do u think it would it pair with a Vega Pro blade LOL

Thanks

Pretty darn well! Iv tried it on a vega pro, though you might lack some finishing power from more than around 6 feet off the table (incase you do bh loop that table), but should work really well near the table and a few feet off.

The Victas VS>401 has a fairly similar topsheet and has excellent spin, touch, and control. Not just for defensive players. Vega Pro is also a good choice!

In my (past) experience, R7, VPro, and VJ were three very different rubbers.
R7 still is the most valued one by my higher rated colleagues (USATT > 1800).
(1) Juic SBA (Fl, 85 g) with Bluefire JP3 (red max) on FH and 0.6 mm DR N Desperado on BH; (2) Yinhe T7 (Fl, 87 g) with Bluefire M3 (red 2.0) on FH and 0.6 mm 755 on BH.
