I bought 12 DHS 3-star balls on http://ttnpp.com/shop/dhs-3-stars-balls-white-x-6-p-108.html and these balls turn out to be fake. Sent the seller an email and never got a reply. Be aware if you want to buy stuffs on TTNPP.
This picture of a genuine DHS 3-star ball is from the web This is the one I used to play This is the fake one from TTNPP. The letters are aligned along a curved line. Edited by suigin - 12/06/2012 at 7:12pm |

I bought balls on TTNPP because I saw someone says why not buy balls on TTNPP here. I just shared my experience and I did not say they sell fake rubbers or blades. Edited by suigin - 12/06/2012 at 6:57pm |

It's quite possible that the printing doesn't always come out exactly the same. Balls aren't exactly easy to manufacture, I doubt it would be worth it to make fakes.

Sometimes, it's hard to tell if a ball is fake or real. However, I've played with some really really fake DHS balls before. They played like sh*t, and crapped all over the place.
Try performing a blind hit test. If you can consistently pick out those balls, then they are fake.

I've received fake DHS 3* balls before (that's what I get for buying them on ebay), so people are definitely making fakes.
They stuck out quite a bit - a different shade of orange (they really stood out at the club) and noticeably heavier. I didn't think anything of it until I played 1 match with it, and the next match w/ a nittaku ball. I couldn't land anything with the nittaku ball and was complaining of the ball being light. It wasn't light - it was the fake ball being so heavy.

I believe there have been a few posts about how to spot fake balls. IIRC, it is mostly about the packaging (fonts on, colors of the box ...). I never had any luck when buying DHS balls from TTNPP, eacheng, ... I gave up DHS and have use double fish for the last few years

Post some close ups of the boxes, that would help identifying fakes, it's not easy to spot fakes from the balls unless you play with them and find noticeable differences in sound and bouncing...

our original balls has also curved wording "made in china" it is impossible to make it completely straight, as ball is round :) it
depends also a lot on the angle you make picture - it can look optically more
or less curved.

Spin the ball on a table and see how much it wobbles. If it wobbles like an egg, it is fake. If it's heavier or lighter, maybe fake. If it's too soft, maybe fake.
Do not just check one ball; check all of them! If they all seem fake, then they are probably fake. |

I bought about 5 dozen of DHS 3-star balls from TTNPP and never had a problem with them, they were all about the same weight and maybe 5 out of them were slightly not round. I also bought DHS balls from other places and there was no difference between them and ones bought from TTNPP. And yes, I came across some fake DHS balls and they were either noticeably lighter or heavier and played like crap while all balls from TTNPP were playing on par with balls from other major brands.
So, I see no problem with some imperfection with graphics, but I see a problem of accusing a generally good seller (he is infamous because of other things, but that's the price a buyer agrees to pay) because of those graphics.

Apart from obviously different letters, colours and label, it's made of plastic, it's darker than genuine, it's well over 40 mm and it's bounceless (almost like these ), so it has be outdoor DHS *** CTTA approved table tennis ball. |
