After all my problems with my 3 latest balsa blades splitting on me this last year I decided it was time for a change.

I began searching for a nice ALL+ to OFF 5ply all wood blade. This way I knew there would be no problems with splitting or fragility.

The only requirement I had is that the blade must be light (85g or under). So I did some research and decided on the Stiga Tube Light, listed as 78g. I thought that is great for an all wood blade, but to make sure I got the lightest one I rang the store owner to hand pick the lightest one.

Fool proof? Guess again, I recieved the tube "light" as 90.5g yesterday .

Please someone reccomend me a non brick like 5ply before I go insane...

Do you like it a "head-heavy"?

Take any 5ply blade you like.
Remove the handle.
Make some new handle out of Balsa.

This will make about 15gms if the old handle were madeo of fineline!

Benny

EDIT: Take the Spin Classic

I have a 6.5 fitter so I could use that. Found it a bit fast last time I used it but at 75g its an option.

Not too keen on head heavy blades!

It's a while back.

The Thibar H1-9.

This blade has no feeling at all.
It's fast as hell though.

butterfly primorac off-

It's way too soft and flexible for my style of play.
It's an excellent blade in proper hands though.

Dawei Matrix. I've tried several and they all played excellent. On one in particular I changed the rubbers a few times and never had any splintering or evidence of fragility. Cole lightly seals them.

I think it runs about 85 grams and if you let Cole know, he could ensure that he picks one 85 or under and lightly sealed.

It is a STEAL at 16 bucks. (heck, since you play with IQUL, you could even get it in a combo for 39 bucks: Matrix w/ IQUL and a case)

Also, the Yasaka Ma Lin Extra Offensive (rated OFF, not OFF+) has an excellent factory lacquered finish. Suppose to be 86 grams (you might be able to get one hand picked at 85 or under). About 43 USD.

I didn't know it would be faster than the Balsa Carbo, I find the 6.5 Fitter just slightly too slow, clearly OFF- ish for me:). I think the 8.5 would be too fast. They need to make a 7.5 just for me:P. I really like the head heavy blades. I would have suggested to try a Galaxy T2, they are very light but it's going to be way too fast if the 6.5 is too fast

T2 would only fit the desired weight aspect. It's fast and super stiff; much unlike a 5 ply all wood blade in the OFF or slower range. (I found the T2 to play the worst of all carbon blades I've tried).

Cheers for those blade suggestions, I'll look into them. Money is a bit tight for me while I'm at uni, thats why I'm so annoyed at a wasted 25..

Ebay seller 'TNHA', http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/CHINA-TnhaSHOP__W0QQ_armrsZ1. Really great service and fast shipping in my experience.

I think he runs the eacheng site too but I'm in a really bad shipping band on that site. I'd be better ordering my blades from here to be honest.

The T-2 looks pretty fast from that rating, something that I forgot to mention originally is that it needs to have a straight handle

mwyatt, maybe you could even try the Spin Master (the blade below the Spin Classic on the same site), which is a bit harder, stiffer and faster and less than 85 grams in normal size as well.  If you need further information, just PM me.

Yes the T2 is too fast, it's light :) but it's going to be way too fast for you. All the Chinese ebay sellers are eacheng as far as I can tell. I think hes got like 10 shops :)

When I suggested the TSP balsa in your other thread I was referring to the TSP Balsa Fiber series (non fitter). The fitter version is more froward balanced (head heavy) which probably makes it a touch faster.

You can also try the TSP Balsa 5.5 Allround Power (All+) if you think the 6.5 is too fast.

Here is a link of what it looks like.

The 5.5 looks like a nice option. I already have the 6.5 fitter so ive put on some new sheets of IQUL to try it out. The overall setup comes out at 159g which I am very pleased with .

I'll get a hit with it tommorow morning so fingers crossed it will suit me then I can put my wallet away.

Regardless, as always a big thanks to everyone

If you rang the store owner, and confirmed the weight, why did you get on that was at least 10 grams heavier. Confused

Im with BOb there, I contacted him by email and I got the lightest t11 and jonyer h

out of those 2 I recommend the jonyer if you are worried about it falling apart since my t11 has a super thin top veneer that lifts of the carbon when removing the rubbers.  Still usable...

Yes, unfortunately some store owners aren't very ethical. Perhaps the reason I only get my BLADES from either affordablett or iruiru Smile
