There are so many $20-$30-$40 blades out there, given that all blades are just some very small layers of plywood and carbon glued together, I have to believe there are some great hidden gems. I think I am like most people in that the blades I've tried are mostly $70,80+ but I'd like to know if there are some hidden gems out there. I can imagine people might think twice about glueing $50 rubbers on a $30 blade.
The Galaxy T11 is one cheap blade that has great online reviews I apologize if this topic's already been done |

Can anyone attest to one (very cheap blade) they use or seen another very good player use? I would particularly like to know of one that people have put expensive rubbers on

I used to play Galaxy Y-3 and Y-4 (both listed as All but more like Off-) for a while; both are $10 at eacheng. They are both stiff and hard, not ridiculously fast (like other Galaxy blades) and have pretty good control. I played them with Joola Samba+ and FS563. In particular the Y-4 was really nice in terms of design and quality for a $10 blade.

Sorry, just saw that too. Still, paddle palace does not list a single Yasake blade that fits this either.

ha ha... see my signature, and my review of 729-f1 on this forum.
I have recommended this blade to many, who came back and thanked me. :) Sub per finishing, but better playability, power control and spin than all expensive blades i tried. Its an unrefined nittaku Violin. |

I think the best cheap (inexpensive) blade is the Sanwei HC-6. You can get it on e-bay fl/st $25 to $30 dollars. It's a hinoki carbon blade. Fast and crisp feeling. Lower throw and fast, so use high throw rubbers. I think you feel the carbon more than the hinoki, but it's real nice. Forum member achoomai sells them. I actually want to try some of the other Sanwei HC after tying this one. Theologion- Haven't tried it yet. Not getting a lot of time to play lately, but will let you know when I do. I have the rubbers ready for it, just not ready to glue it. Probably will be summer time when I can dedicate some time to it.

The Yinhe T-4 is the best cheap blade I ever tried ($28 ttnpp); at $40 from dandoy, the tube aluminum comes next. Both are probably too fast for my sub 2k level though but they are not uncontrollable.
the F1 mentioned above sure has my attention! |

Anyone tried the galaxy T11? Some of the sanweis do look good. I have to believe there are companies using their budgets to make good blades rather than marketing. The incremental cost for butterfly to make another Mizutani is probably $3

I don't think it's an exaggeration at all. What do you think is the cost of the raw material of one blade and keeping the machine on for one more blade? |

Friendship 729 A1 Friendship 729 A2 Many of that 729 range are good blades, you could even say the entire range are good. There's only two reasons to stay away from really cheap blades. Those reasons are Donic and Yasaka. Both sell very cheap, very good blades, you could argue they make the best blades full stop at any price and most of them are sub $50 or even sub $40 |

I'd be curious if anyone knows what the cheap twin is for some popular $$$ blades, in terms of construction and playability. Already have one for the Violin.
I hate to admit it but I look at $30-40 Donic and Yasaka blades and I don't take them seriously, but partly because it seems there are a lot more reviews on the expensive blades. Also, it just seems very odd to put a $60 Tenergy on a $30 blade |

It is true that with 2 of them the blade will represent 20% of the total setup cost and that's weird. A blade may last a lifetime so its cost is not a big deal if we count the money sent per hour of play after years of practice with it. Yet with a $50 jre we can achieve so much so at some point it is not about the money anymore but about not falling into those insane marketing traps. |

Raven I'm curious about what blades you have used in the past if you think Donic and Yasaka prices make them seem non serious?. As we know Stiga is probably the most popular brand of blade in the world followed closely by Butterfly but honestly both the Yasaka and Donic range are just as good blade for blade

HRT Rosewood series is also quite good. But it is more like 30-40$ and better finishing compared to Stiga.

There are lots of great all wood blades for under $40. Part of the marketing hype revolves around the purported need for carbon or other non-woodayerials to make the blades perform better.
Bluebucket's point is that with the Yasaka Extras and the Donic Allplays or even the Donic Exclusive series, which are all between $25 and $50 depending on vendor, buying an extremely cheap blade is unnecessary. |

Exactly ^ what I'm talking about. You can take a chance a $20 blade will be decent and sometimes you do get a decent blade. Or you can pay another $20 and get a blade that's just as good as anything in the world in it's class. As is the case of the Yasaka Extras, Donic allplays and their similar friends

in my experience there is no such things like cheap and good blade. only for beginners. if you not beginner and you want to enjoy from game you should spend around $100 and more for blade

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with Yasaka and Donic. If anything, my whole point of this thread was there's no reason a great "world class" blade should cost more than $40. However, we've been caught in this marketing hype like Pilgrim's post (no offense) below saying you have to spend at least $100. These cheaper blades also seem less reviewed so I don't them as well, for example, I can find hundreds of reviews on a Timo Boll or MJ. I bet if you hid the handles, most people couldn't tell the difference between a $200 Butterfly and a $30 Donic. WHAT I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO KNOW ARE CHEAPER VERSIONS OF THE FAMOUS BLADES. |

you don't think there is reason for this? people want to review blades they like. there is no reason to review blade that you didn't like and sell for half price because nobody wants to buy it |

OP or Moderator be able to add the list of blades mentioned to OP - so it is easier to get to the list.
I am convinced blades are over priced. I am interested in all wood blades - the cheaper they are the better. In my opinion - people in my circles that spend money on blades - should be spending them on lessons. They have problems with their technique not their equipment.
