I use K3 on FH and D80 on BH on both TB ALC and ZLC (both 88g).
I was using D80 on bith sides recently, but switched to K3 on FH. D80 is a little bit faster and lower arc than T05. The overall feeling is a little bit less dwell but still more soft and springy than T05. Grip is higher than T05 and close to the table it is faster than T05. The biggest issue is the reactiveness due to the springy nature, it is a bit more reactive than T05 in the short game, unlike D05 which is quite less jumpy. Durability is forever and unless you scrape the table with it, it can be used for 6 months with (10 hrs weekly play + drills). Reason for changing to K3 was the short game on the FH side, especially receiving short no spin, side apin serves where you are a bit late to judge the length of the serve.

it was interesting that you shifted to K3 which I also was thinking.
Issue with K3 was 1. Low durability & Speed 2. hard feel ( I have not played , but heard it could be) opinions on above? I am more of FH player and like to use BH blocks and punch , have less confidence in open ups and less technique. But my blocks are really good and chops too D05 for BH is more or less fixed Blade : Tibhar Balsa 60 which is soft and off- category. Which rubber u suggest for good consistent loops and good grip on FH side K3, D05 or D80

The hybrids, Dragon Grip, K3, Rakza EH have more grip on thin contacts than D05 or D80.
D80 and D05 are nearly the same with D80 having lesser dwell, a little more bouncy feel and earlier catapult. On soft wood, it might be too soft for FH. I personally find it soft for FH on OFF- blades. If you have a soft blade, DragonGrip would be better. K3 feels softwr in play compatlred to R47 and is the same overall hardness as R48. Dragon Grip is the same overall hardness as D09C

If K3 feels softer than r47 and r48, then it will suit me as i hv played with r47 and i was ok with that as well.
K3 is more popular and my blade being Tibhar , wud suit more. 1) How is the speed of K3 compared to D80 2) how is the counterlooping , on opponents loop, can we easily hit through the line confidently without worrying about it shooting off? This is the blade I am opting for This is one step higher than above ( Fibre 60 or Fibre 75) How will be the above combo suit - FH : K3 BH : D05

K3 has more gears, but it is more difficult to get max speed out of k3, while its very easy with D80.
I would suggest staying away from D80 if you are not sure, its a difficult to control rubber in the short and passive game.

I am using Dignics 80 on Stiga Cyber Shape Carbon. Feels softer compared to dignics 05 more dwell time and really easy to use on fh side. Very grippy. Feels a little softer than the listed 40 degrees due to the very supple top sheet. I think this is the "do everything" Dignics option. Loops, blocks and drives very well. This is a really good rubber from butterfly |

I agree I recently switched from D05 to D80 on my backhand. D80 feels a fair bit softer. D80 is also more bouncy. I tried playing it on my forehand, it was a no go. I do like it on my backhand side though.

In my experience nothing to worry about, expensive rubber but in this aspect you get what you pay for. Durable rubber, characteristics stay constant over life of rubber, no crumbling edges. My only reservation would be around degumming. Overall in my experience much more durable than ESN stuff I've used in terms of sponge life and topsheet wear. They are my thoughts, comments. Not very scientific, but I'm not a reviewer, tester ....

Curently I use H3 Nat BS on my usual Hallmark balsa carbon and frankly don't like the feeling. I have tried the same rubber on my other blade Sanwei HC-1S(Hinoki/ALC) and the combination feels marvelous. Now the Sanwei has H3NEO Prov BS and it feels still better than the Balsa with Nat. I tend to think that H3 isn't a good match with balsa blades, which on the other hand are so much lighter and comfortable

Which balsa blade you have, exact full name, ( just got the name ) https://thorntonstabletennis.co.uk/product/table-tennis-blade-hallmark-carbon-extreme-blade/ Above one looks very fast, also not sure about the quality as well. May be the below tibhar one you can try, i am tending to switch to balsa, due to less weight and v good control I was thinking of below one, this has soft feel as it has ayous at the top, I tried same series def blade, it was so control and good feel with dig 05, so i believe even above off 75 will also offer similar feel and control Is blue sponge better than orange?

Yes, the one I have is the one from the link and it is one of the best balsa carbons I have tried and I have tried all from the most popular brands around here. Although it isn't "the perfect blade" what makes you think it is one of a bad quality?

typically , Butterfly, Tibhar , Donic are the mainstream brands,
It seems a v fast blade, and v less users from what i saw on revspin. ( I may be incorrect though) How does the feeling, is it soft, if its soft then H3 should suit, if its hard and less flexible then H3 will not suit Hinoki one looks soft feel , hence it suited, |

It is fast, inner, with a compact head and near perfect balance, excellent speed/speed ratio(better than all the rest Balsa Carbons) medium flex and most of all very light- I have 4 of these, 68g each. The bad news is they all feel different 🥴

I'm thinking to switch my current setup , from T80(f/h) and T05(b/h) to D80(f/h) and D05(b/h). I see your setup , you prefer T80 on f/h instead of D80. Why is that ? Isn't D80 faster than T80 ? Also you switched from D05 to D80 on your backhand. Isn't D80 too bouncy for b/h ?

I played the last season with D80/FH and D05/BH on a wooden blade. Initially I thought that D05 being harder would be better on my FH but actually it plays perfectly well on my BH and vice versa with the D80. It is all personal preference . One must try

Playing for only some minutes with a Dignics 80 , it looks like a "boosted" version of Tenergy 80 to me.

It was not my racket unfortunately...I played for two minutes . The blade was an allwood Donic.
He had two same blades ,one with D80 and the other with T80.
D80 was faster on active shots and slower on passive shots , as i like ... I'm waiting for my tennis-elbow to pass in order to buy a pair of D80 and D05 and test it. |

Obviously D80 is a fantastic rubber, but I think it's not the best unless you have a very specific need. It's decent for doing fast blocks, and not the best option for looping. I tried it on an offensive all-wood blade (Koki Niwa Wood) and it still felt pretty out of control for me. Honestly unless you're a very high level player who needs maximum speed, I'd recommend D09c or D05, at least to start. These both have more than enough speed, and better spin than D80. If you're gonna play with a carbon blade, D80 is going to be very hard to control. I play Dignics 09c on an all-wood blade and it's more than fast enough for me.
My philosophy: if you're not a pro and you need more speed in your shots, just focus on getting stronger. |

Personally, I found the D05 much more comfortable than the D80. But I haven't had much experience. I think I need to have more experience for the D80.
