    Posted: 03/03/2007 at 6:16pm
Hi all i just bought a bottle of EEII and applied a coat on my Sriver L 2.1 and sriver fx 1.9 last night. Both have been glued before with Elmer's rubber cement and so far its been 18 hours and i see no signs of expanding. Is this common? should i just wait and apply a thicker coat next? any advice would be appreciated.

Did you clean your old rubbers first?  You need to remove any glue residue/build-up on the sponge.  Otherwise it will be hard for EE2 to penetrate, it will just dry over the layer of glue build-up.

It's better to treat new sheets.  Some used rubbers I treated didn't respond well to EE2 (ie, no much expansion observed).  However the same rubber, but brand new, was expanded and domed like crazy after just 2 thick coats of EE2.

I use glue thinner to remove the glue build-ups.  Search other threads here that discussed using various types of solvent to remove the glue build-ups and clean the sponge.

yes it works. I did it with my 3 months old nimbus and plasma470. Especially plasma470 got boost up alot. 3 days for the first layer than apply a second layer and wait 3 days. You need to be patient.

Andro specifically states not the speed glue Plasma rubbers.  While EE2 is not speed glue, have you seen any detrimental effects to your plasma sheet after applying EE2?  How long have you used it with EE2.  Did you see a significant increase in speed and/or spin after using EE2.  Has that effect lasted.

EE isnt a speedglue. I know people who speedglue nimbus and have no problems at all. You only need to take care of the tensor rubbers than they will last quite long. My rubbers are in good condition even after 4 months. The EE effect was really good with the plasma 470. Well i cant describe it accurately. You need to play with plasma 470 and nimbus than you will understand it. Before i applied EE2, plasma470 was harder, significant lower catapult and spin compared to nimbus but after EE2 plasma470 got more catapult overall it was better than before. Cant say how long it works. The effect was roughly one month but at that time i tested it on 5 different blades so i think the effect will last longer when you dont remove, stick, remove etc. like i did. 2 negative points. First dont apply to much EE2. Dont let EE2 comes in contact with the topsheet. Gueing EE2 prepared sponge is a pain in a ass.

I haven't played with Nimbus.  I do play with Plasma 430 max on my forehand.  Would you say your 470 became softer like the 430 after using ee2 but with much more speed and spin.

no nimbus is harder than 430 and a bit ofter than 470. I would rate nimbus 450. EE dont soften the rubber to that much degree. Nimbus + EE similar to 430 and geen energy.

was wondering if using acetone would be ok instead of glue thinner to take off the glue build up frm the sponge?
